Position Our client is looking for a Group Leader - Civil Engineer for their team in Secunda, Mpumalanga. Overview The Civil Engineering Group Leader will be responsible for establishing, building, and growing a civil engineering team that performs design to support company projects and provides quality assurance on designs from external companies. The leader will also support procurement and construction during project execution, develop work procedures in accordance with ISO 9000, and grow business opportunities from existing and potential clients, managing the unit as a profit centre with full accountability for success and growth. The group leader will quantify requirements and establish term contracts with key clients. They will be responsible for the productivity of the group in terms of finances, contract management, technical integrity, schedule, and customer service. The leader leads by example, ensuring their contribution is both a financial asset and respected by the team. Responsibilities Lead the civil engineering team to deliver design and quality assurance for EPC/EPCM projects. Develop and implement work procedures in line with ISO 9000 and existing corporate culture. Identify and pursue new business opportunities from clients. Quantify requirements and negotiate term contracts with key clients. Manage productivity, finances, contract management, technical integrity, schedule, and customer service. Maintain a calm and collected leadership style, avoiding prejudice and ensuring respect within the team. Operate office‑based in Secunda. Requirements Minimum of a B Eng or BSc Eng degree in Civil Engineering with at least eight years of relevant experience. Registered with ECSA as a Professional Engineer in good standing. Experience in detailed engineering on multidisciplinary EPC/EPCM projects. Experience in detailed design and engineering of civil structures and foundations in the petro‑chemical industry or similar, with hands‑on experience or proper exposure to manufacturing of own designs. Strong leadership and organizational skills, able to manage the financial wellbeing and morale of the business unit. Good interpersonal relations and ability to market services. Affinity for sharing knowledge and developing young employees. Dynamic awareness of economic and business trends. Organized and self‑disciplined. Valid driver’s licence with own transport.
