Overview We are looking for a dynamic personality to join our small 5-star team as assistant lodge manager. Responsibilities All daily tasks surrounding guest experience, administration, camp management and team management. Guest experience: host guests, check in and check out, liaise with reservations, communicate guest preferences and requirements to team, serve meals and drinks, facilitate game drives and external activities. Daily administrative roles: stock management, preparing guest documentation, invoicing, ordering, and keeping up to date with the reservation system. Camp management: room and camp checks and identifying maintenance issues. Team management: host morning meetings, enforce codes of conduct, train team members, assign duties and shifts, maintain staff schedule, ensure SOPs followed, and manage staff discipline. Management and training of all operating procedures and policies around guest service for the entire team. Human resource management: ensure team follows codes of conduct, conduct disciplinary hearings, issue written and verbal warnings, and coordinate all HR activities with Operations Manager and owners. Creation and maintenance of all guest service-related standard operating procedures including in-room housekeeping, lodge housekeeping, bar procedures, aesthetics in camp, and guest delights (in coordination with Operations Manager and owners). Training and monitoring five-star service levels and offerings for food and beverage departments. Position reports to Owners, Operations Manager and Lodge Manager; stands in for Lodge Manager when on days off. Qualifications Ideal candidate speaks fluent English, has a hospitality degree, and a minimum of two years of entry-level management experience (ideally in a 5* environment). Preference for a candidate with a strong, friendly personality who can host guests and command respect, strong administration skills, and maturity. This is a great position for a younger candidate to gain hands-on experience in all aspects of lodge operations. Work schedule approximately 3 weeks on, 1 week off; 6 days off per month plus 1 day in lieu of public holidays; 16 days of leave per annum.
