The role We are seeking an Asset Controller in South Africa to join our Controlling team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the financial reporting from investee entities, including business planning and forecasting. There will be a critical commercial side to the role, working closely with the Mercuria investing team and trading desk to assist in asset management initiatives and monitoring trading activity with and within local JV entities. This role involves close collaboration with and oversight of the financial controllers of local JV entities to ensure the delivery of accurate and timely information through a cloud-based reporting system. It also requires coordination with other internal departments—such as treasury, middle office, and financial reporting—to align and reconcile key financial data. There is likely to be room for growth within the role as Mercuria is growing its presence in both South Africa and the African continent, giving the right candidate the opportunity to be a foundational member of the fast‑growing local team. There may also be opportunities for the role to expand oversight responsibilities across mining investments in Africa and Australia. Job Responsibilities Responsibility for financial reporting process (preparing instructions/KPIs/templates, managing compliance with deadlines, reviewing local reporting & preparing final deliverables for management); Providing hands‑on assistance to the local teams to ensure their reporting and control is high quality and timely; Understanding JV operations and reporting in depth to source critical commercial information to Mercuria investing and trading teams; Preparing consolidated financial statements & ad hoc consolidations; Managing auditors & resolution of audit issues across different regions; Establishing and developing relations with senior management and external partners and stakeholders. Qualifications and Skills CIMA, ACA, ACCA, CPA designation is preferred; +7 years professional experience required; Experience with mining industry would be a significant advantage; Strong interpersonal skills and independence will be required to build relationships with stakeholders and JV partners; Excellent time management, organization, task prioritization, and problem‑solving skills; Experience with SAP or Microsoft Dynamics is a plus; Excellent capabilities in Excel and other MS office applications; Motivated, reliable and self‑starter; Team player with a positive and entrepreneurial attitude; Ability to work under pressure, to tight deadlines. #J-18808-Ljbffr
