Regional Sales Manager – Pretoria At Smith+ Nephew, we design and manufacture technology that takes the limits off living. Responsibilities Deliver revenue and market‑share growth: own annual targets; drive territory performance and productivity. Lead and develop the sales team: manage direct employees and agents; coach through regular co‑travels and quarterly reviews; build succession plans. Develop and execute regional strategy: translate market insights into regional sales plans; align with marketing to implement agreed programs. Key customer & stakeholder engagement: build professional relationships with hospital decision‑makers, key opinion leaders, and managed healthcare organisations. Forecasting, analytics & reporting: monitor regional sales, forecast by territory, and provide timely reporting on sales, expenses, rep performance and competitive activity. Tender management & compliance: ensure our portfolio is correctly called for on relevant tenders and awards are administered accurately, adhering to company procedures and healthcare regulations. Cross‑functional collaboration: partner closely with the Business Unit Manager, Marketing, Finance, and Supply Chain to maintain service levels and business continuity. Qualifications Matric qualification. Degree within the Faculty of Health Sciences or tertiary qualification in Business/Commerce or related field. At least 8 years of post‑qualification sales experience of which a minimum of 5 years medical device or pharma sales experience. Minimum of 2 years of sales management experience in the medical or pharmaceutical field. Extensive knowledge of the medical devices industry. Demonstrated track record of expertise and career progress within the medical devices landscape and the ability to develop strong relationships with KOLs. Proven success leading regional sales teams, ideally in medical devices/healthcare (preferred). Strong people leadership—coaching, performance reviews, and in‑field development. Commercial acumen with forecasting, pipeline management and reporting discipline. Experience engaging state and private hospital stakeholders, managed healthcare head offices, and tender processes. Collaborative, cross‑functional working style with excellent communication and stakeholder influence. Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel frequently within the region.
