Senior Technology Delivery Manager Location: Hybrid role combining remote work with regular collaboration in our Derby office at least three days per week. Applicants must have right to work in the UK. Contract Type: Permanent Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Monday‑Friday). Role Overview The Senior Technology Delivery Manager is accountable for the day‑to‑day delivery and operational execution of Technology across the business. Reporting into the Head of Engineering and Operations, this senior management role oversees delivery across development and operations, ensuring work is prioritised, coordinated, and delivered predictably. The role provides clear senior ownership of Technology execution, enabling strategic focus at Director level. It also has direct line‑management responsibility for Development Managers and the Operations Team Lead and acts as the single point of accountability for Technology delivery outcomes. The manager remains hands‑on where appropriate, particularly in complex delivery scenarios, recovery situations, or where close technical or operational engagement is required. Responsibilities Technology Delivery Ownership Own the execution of Technology delivery across all IT verticals Ensure delivery commitments are realistic, prioritised and aligned to business objectives Maintain clear oversight of plans, milestones, dependencies and risks Act as the escalation point for delivery constraints, trade‑offs and conflicts Take hands‑on ownership of complex or high‑risk delivery situations where senior intervention is required Own prioritisation trade‑offs across Technology when demand exceeds capacity, balancing delivery, operational stability and strategic objectives Operational Oversight Ensure the smooth day‑to‑day running of Technology services and platforms Balance delivery activity with operational stability and sustainability Oversee incident, problem and change activity to minimise business impact Ensure operational readiness is considered as part of all change and delivery activity Act as senior escalation and, where appropriate, directly support resolution of significant incidents or delivery failures Leadership & Line Management Line manage Development Managers and the Operations Team Lead Set clear expectations around accountability, outcomes and ways of working Support, challenge and develop senior leaders within Technology Foster a culture of ownership, transparency and continuous improvement Strategy Execution Translate Technology strategy and direction from the Head of Engineering and Operations into actionable delivery plans, shaping sequencing and approach to maximise successful outcomes Ensure delivery sequencing reflects strategic priorities and capacity constraints Surface delivery risks and implications early to support informed decision‑making Governance, Visibility & Reporting Establish and maintain effective delivery governance across Technology Provide clear, concise reporting on delivery progress, risks and operational health Ensure stakeholders have confidence in Technology’s ability to deliver consistently Continuous Improvement Identify structural or systemic delivery issues and take ownership of resolving them Improve delivery predictability, flow and cross‑team collaboration Promote pragmatic ways of working that balance speed, quality and risk What do we need from you? Essential Skills Senior technology management experience with accountability for delivery and/or operations Proven experience managing managers or senior team leads Strong understanding of modern software delivery and IT operations Experience coordinating multiple delivery streams with competing priorities Ability to operate confidently between strategic direction and operational execution Desirable Skills Experience in organisations with mixed legacy and modern technology stacks Exposure to DevOps‑aligned operating models Experience improving delivery maturity, governance or operational effectiveness Hands‑On Delivery Background A strong hands‑on background in software delivery, technology operations or engineering‑led environments Comfortable engaging directly with delivery activities where appropriate Able to dive into detail to understand root causes, assess delivery or operational risk and support teams in resolving complex problems Judgement to know when to be hands‑on personally and when to delegate, coach or remove obstacles Leadership Characteristics Strong ownership – taking responsibility for outcomes, not just activity Delivery focus – prioritising predictable, high‑quality outcomes Clarity under pressure – especially when managing trade‑offs and constraints Credibility with senior stakeholders – trusted, pragmatic and transparent Collaborative leadership – aligning development and operations as a single function Pragmatic – hands‑on when needed, without undermining team ownership or accountability What is in it for you?
