We are seeking a financially astute and proactive finance professional to provide strong financial leadership and operational support to the school community. We are looking for a Finance Manager who will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the school and supporting its long-term financial sustainability. This role requires a hands-on finance professional who can combine strong operational financial management with strategic business partnering. Working closely with the Head of School and Group CFO, the successful candidate will play a key role in financial planning, performance monitoring, compliance, and supporting informed decision-making across the school. The role requires a collaborative and solutions-oriented individual who is capable of operating both strategically and operationally within a dynamic school environment. Key Responsibilities Oversee the day-to-day financial operations of the school, ensuring financial accuracy, efficiency, and strong internal controls Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports Monitor cash flow, working capital, and overall financial performance Support the Head of School and Group CFO with financial analysis, reporting, and operational insights Monitor key financial and operational performance indicators to support effective school management and sustainability Ensure compliance with applicable financial regulations, statutory requirements, and group budgeting, forecasting & business support Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process in collaboration with school leadership Provide financial modelling, analysis, and scenario planning to support strategic and Monitor budget performance, identify variances, and recommend corrective actions where required Contribute to initiatives that support operational efficiency and long-term financial sustainability Support resource planning and financial decision-making across operational and academic functions Oversee school fee billing, collections, and debtor management processes Ensure effective and professional communication regarding fee-related matters, payment arrangements, and financial administration Support the administration of bursaries, scholarships, and related financial processes Payroll & HR Finance Support Oversee monthly payroll processes and ensure compliance with all relevant South African legislation and SARS requirements Ensure accurate and efficient administration of employee-related financial processes, including benefits and statutory contributions Maintain accurate financial records relating to payroll and HR administration Compliance, Audit & Governance Ensure ongoing compliance with South African tax legislation, SARS submissions, and Department of Education financial requirements Coordinate external audits and support the implementation of audit recommendations Maintain and strengthen financial policies, procedures, and internal controls Support effective financial governance and risk management practices within the school Procurement & Resource Management Oversee procurement processes, supplier relationships, and expense management controls Monitor operational expenditure and identify opportunities for cost optimization and value improvement Oversee asset management and related financial controls Work collaboratively with school leadership and operational teams to support the school’s strategic objectives Provide guidance and oversight to finance and administrative support staff where applicable Promote a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field Minimum 5 years’ experience in a financial management role Strong understanding of South African tax legislation, SARS requirements, and financial compliance frameworks Experience managing budgets and financial reporting processes Proficiency in accounting systems such as Sage, Xero, Pastel, or similar platforms Advanced MS Excel skills Advantageous: SAIPA, CIMA, ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification Previous experience within an educational institution, international school, or non-profit Experience working with ERP or school management systems Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills Ability to translate financial data into clear and actionable insights Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills High level of integrity, professionalism, and discretion Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with leadership teams Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities Proactive, solutions-oriented, and commercially aware mindset What We Offer A stimulating and values-driven international school environment Competitive remuneration package commensurate with experience Opportunity to contribute meaningfully to a growing educational community Supportive leadership team and collaborative working culture Professional growth and development opportunities Location: Must reside in Cape Town Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent Experience Required: 5+ years in financial management #J-18808-Ljbffr
