ABS Maritime (Pty) Ltd is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Clearing & Forwarding (C&F) Controller to join our growing team in Cape Town. Location: Cape Town, South Africa (Montague Gardens) Employment Type: Permanent Salary: Market Related / Based on Experience About the Role The successful candidate will be responsible for managing customs clearing and forwarding operations, ensuring full compliance with SARS regulations, coordinating shipment documentation, and maintaining excellent service delivery to both internal and external stakeholders. Key Responsibilities Customs & Freight Operations Register shipments on ACS. Compile and process complete import and export documentation for ocean freight shipments. Frame Bills of Entry (BOE) to obtain SARS releases. Process VOCs and customs acquittals. Submit customs appeals and manage deferment account reconciliations. Prepare and submit Shipping and Landing Orders. Prepare documentation for shipping lines, Chambers of Commerce, and other authorities. Process Cargo Dues Orders and submit cargo manifests via OTC/ACS. Prepare, stamp, and release Bills of Lading. Process customs clearances for ship spares and airfreight shipments. Coordinate the delivery of ship spares. Liaise with clients, suppliers, shipping lines, and regulatory authorities. Maintain accurate operational records, spreadsheets, and filing systems. Financial & Invoice Processing Verify and authorize related creditor invoices. Prepare accounts payable documentation and submit for approval. Track supplier payments and confirm receipts. Monitor Transnet and NPA account balances. Prepare and issue customer invoices. Compliance & Regulatory Management Ensure compliance with SARS, Transnet, and other regulatory requirements. Monitor tariff classifications and customs duties. Stay updated on NCAP (New Customs Act Programme) developments. Ensure full compliance with import and export regulations. Minimum Requirements Qualifications Matric (Grade 12) Relevant Diploma or Certificate in Customs Clearing & Forwarding or related field Experience Minimum 5 years' experience in ocean and/or air freight imports and exports Strong understanding of customs documentation, tariff headings, Incoterms, and international trade procedures Technical Skills Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) Experience with ACS software will be highly advantageous Key Competencies Exceptional attention to detail Strong organisational and administrative skills Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines Excellent communication and coordination abilities Strong problem-solving and analytical skills Reliable, proactive, and accountable Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment #J-18808-Ljbffr
