Reference: PE -MVDM-1 PRODUCTION MANAGER Location: Port ElizabethSalary: Market relatedType: Permanent positionReporting to: Chief Operating Officer Duties & Responsibilities Purpose of role: - Managing the manufacture/fabrication of body applications & components as well as specialised application modifications.- Responsible for the overall performance of Production operations in line with the overall business strategy, obtaining support from other departments to ensure delivery to schedule, meeting quality & cost targets as well as ensuring continuous improvement principles.- Management of Production related staff and ensure that all staff follow company and government policies and procedures, while manufacturing/fabricating quality products and meeting schedule targets.Job requirements: - Tertiary qualification (Degree or Diploma) in Production management or Mechanical/Electrical engineering.- Minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience in Production Management.- Sound knowledge of Lean Manufacturing system principles.- Working knowledge of applicable labour & OCHSA regulations/laws.- Effective leadership, organisational and excellent communication, and time management skills.- Demonstrates commitment to safety & housekeeping.- Computer Literacy, knowledge and experience in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Windows, MS Office suite & MS Project.- Basic working knowledge of computer applications for CAD.- Be prepared to work overtime/emergencies.- Driver’s License (ideally Code 14).- Ability to engage with trade unions, suppliers & customers effectively.Duties: - Manage and motivate the Production teams to achieve performance targets.- Managing the Manufacturing/Fabrication processes.- Ensuring that body applications are built in accordance with specifications, meeting regulatory and customer requirements.- Achieving the Production schedule, Quality & Cost targets.- Implementation of continuous improvement initiatives.- Ensuring compliance to SHE/OHCSA.
