Job Description As part of Old Mutual’s Personal Finance segment, the Senior Actuarial Specialist will help shape and execute the Retail Protection strategy. The Retail Protection Product team is responsible for a holistic suite of retail protection products across South Africa’s middle‑to‑high income markets and manages the associated reinsurance strategy, with additional support to the Namibian business. Key Responsibilities Assist with overall reinsurance management and maintenance, ensuring correct application of treaty rules and system implementation. Engage with IT to implement reinsurance structures and processes on the administration system. Perform various reporting activities related to reinsurance arrangements, collaborating with claims, underwriting and finance teams to ensure accurate reflection of premiums and recoveries. Engage with external reinsurance partners on data queries and any impacts arising from reporting processes. Conduct calculation and data analytics functions, including reconciliation of premiums and recoveries. Support the reinsurance team on ad‑hoc modelling, monitoring and assessment of reinsurance structures and contractual work. Qualifications Qualified actuary or actuarial student with excellent exam progress and a minimum of 4 years of experience. Reinsurance experience is an added advantage. Experience or exposure to coding or process automation is beneficial. Strong business acumen, negotiation and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively across diverse teams. Ability to manage multiple deliverables and meet agreed timelines with minimal guidance.
