Position Overview As a Talent Acquisition Specialist Africa at ALS, you will be a strategic talent partner responsible for attracting, engaging, and hiring top‑tier professionals across multiple geographies, business lines, and disciplines. Based in our Johannesburg hub one of ALS's key operational centres in Africa you will manage end‑to‑end recruitment across the region and support global hiring initiatives, ensuring that every hire reflects our culture, values, and commitment to excellence. Key Responsibilities Talent Acquisition & Sourcing Lead full‑cycle recruitment processes for technical, scientific, operational, and corporate roles across Africa and other global regions as needed. Develop and execute proactive sourcing strategies using LinkedIn Recruiter, professional networks, job boards, talent databases, referrals, and direct headhunting. Build and maintain talent pipelines for critical, hard‑to‑fill, and high‑volume roles in areas such as geochemistry and Inspections. Partner with international HR colleagues to support cross‑border hiring campaigns and global mobility initiatives. Stakeholder Partnership Act as a trusted advisor and consultative partner to Hiring Managers and HR Business Partners across multiple business units and geographies. Conduct detailed briefing meetings to deeply understand role requirements, team dynamics, and cultural expectations. Provide market intelligence, salary benchmarking data, and talent availability insights to guide business decisions. Collaborate with the HR team on workforce planning, succession planning, and organisational design discussions. Candidate Experience Deliver an outstanding and consistent candidate experience throughout the recruitment journey from first contact to onboarding. Conduct structured, competency‑based and values‑aligned interviews. Ensure timely, transparent, and respectful communication with all candidates at every stage of the process. Champion diversity and inclusion in all recruitment practices, ensuring equitable access to opportunities for all candidates. Employer Branding & Market Presence Actively promote ALS as an employer of choice in the African and global talent markets. Collaborate with Marketing and HR to develop compelling employer brand content for LinkedIn, job boards, career fairs, and university partnerships. Represent ALS at industry events, career fairs, and professional forums – particularly within the mining, environmental, and scientific testing sectors. Build and nurture relationships with universities, technical colleges, and professional bodies across the region. Compliance, Process & Reporting Ensure all recruitment activities comply with South African labour law (including BBBEE considerations, Employment Equity Act) and relevant international regulations. Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date records in the Applicant Tracking System (ATS). Track and report on key recruitment metrics (time‑to‑fill, cost‑per‑hire, source effectiveness, offer acceptance rate, diversity metrics). Continuously identify opportunities to improve recruitment processes, reduce time‑to‑hire, and enhance quality of hires. Key Requirements Education Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Psychology, Business Administration, Industrial/Organisational Psychology , or a related field. Certification in Talent Acquisition or HR (e.g., SHRM‑CP, CIPD, SABPP registration) is advantageous. Experience Minimum 4–6 years of end‑to‑end recruitment experience, ideally within a multinational or global organisation. Demonstrated experience recruiting for technical/scientific roles preferably in mining, geochemistry, environmental testing, laboratory sciences, or engineering . Proven track record of sourcing and placing candidates across multiple countries in Africa and time zones .
