Key Responsibilities Conduct in-process inspections on machined components during various stages of production Verify dimensions, tolerances, and specifications against engineering drawings Use precision measuring instruments to ensure product accuracy and compliance Perform first-off, patrol, and final in-process inspections as required Identify, document, and report non-conformances immediately Work closely with machinists and production personnel to resolve quality deviations Maintain accurate inspection records and quality documentation Support root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action processes (CAPA) Ensure compliance with Quality Management System (QMS) procedures and standards Assist with calibration control and proper handling of measuring equipment Promote quality awareness and continuous improvement within the machine shop Minimum Requirements (Non-Negotiable) Preferably trade tested as a Toolmaker, Fitter & Turner, or Metal Machinist Solid hands-on knowledge and practical experience using precision measuring equipment, including:Vernier calipers Micrometers (external and internal) Dial indicators Height gauges Bore gauges and plug gauges Proven track record within a machine shop or jobbing/shop environment Strong working knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS), inspection procedures, and documentation control Ability to read and interpret technical and engineering drawings accurately Skills and Competencies Strong attention to detail and accuracy Excellent problem-solving and fault-finding ability Good communication and teamwork skills Ability to work under pressure and meet production deadlines High level of discipline in quality reporting and documentation Sound understanding of machining processes and tolerances GD&T knowledge will be advantageous Advantageous Experience working within ISO 9001 Quality Systems Exposure to CNC machining environments Familiarity with ISO tolerances and engineering standards Experience with non-conformance reporting systems and CAPA processes Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Reduction in scrap and rework levels Accuracy and consistency of inspection records Compliance with QMS procedures and standards Timely identification and escalation of quality defects Improvement in first-pass yield and production quality
