Roche Diagnostics Cape Town is seeking a Reagent Manufacturing Scientist to join their team on a 1 year fixed-term contract . As a Reagent Manufacturing Scientist you will conduct and monitor production activities or laboratory experiments utilizing established and published procedures or batch records and technical and theoretical understanding, while maintaining quality and managing schedules and workflow to accomplish assigned objectives. You will play a vital role in ensuring the high-quality production of life-saving molecular solutions and join a collaborative team where technical precision meets a passion for patient impact. Responsibilities Conduct and monitor production activities or laboratory experiments utilizing established and published procedures or batch records, and manage schedules and workflow to accomplish assigned objectives or schedules. Ensure accuracy, quality, and timeliness of production work or testing activities; summarize batch or experimental results and produce clear reports, documents, and summaries; communicate results and project status to supervisor or project leaders, proactively highlighting significant findings or critical problem areas. Analyze and interpret test results and experimental data using data analysis software and spreadsheets; present findings at internal team meetings as required. Maintain batch records and documentation (hard copy or electronic lab notebook) ensuring methods and results are recorded timely, accurately, and consistently according to established formats. Troubleshoot equipment or instrumentation as needed; analyze and brainstorm alternative approaches to solve problems, make recommendations, and implement solutions. Establish and maintain positive internal, cross-functional, and (where applicable) customer relationships. Other duties as assigned by management. Qualifications and Experience Who You Are as an Ideal Candidate Bachelor\'s degree in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Chemical/Biochemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline or equivalent combination of education and work experience. 3 years of relevant industry experience or general laboratory experience. In the absence of relevant qualifications, experience in the relevant field and at the relevant level will be considered. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to execute relevant laboratory experimentation with hands-on experience in standard molecular biology and biochemistry techniques. Demonstrated ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Manufacturing Instructions (MI) and Work Instructions (WI); working knowledge of relevant ISO standards (13485) would be advantageous. Demonstrated competency in reading and completing charts, forms, and other documents. Proficiency with personal computers, word-processing and spreadsheet applications. Excellent written and verbal communication and personal task management skills. Accountability, the ability to multitask, perform under pressure, and work without supervision. Experience and understanding of protein purification techniques and enzyme analysis; experience with AKTA/FPLC or HPLC would be advantageous.
