Safari JOBS is recruiting a passionate Guide to join a world‑class 5* coastal reserve in the Western Cape. The role focuses on fauna and flora, coastal ecosystems, and ecology‑led storytelling, rather than Big Five safari activities. Candidates should be passionate about learning, teaching, and building guest connection through knowledge and storytelling, and should thrive in an environment that encourages continuous growth. Responsibilities Welcome and engage guests in a warm and friendly manner. Host guests in line with the company’s standard of excellence. Create a memorable and educational experience for guests by providing informative nature encounters. Customize experiences to meet guests’ interests and preferences, ensuring their satisfaction. Lead guided nature walks, safaris and outdoor activities. Share in‑depth knowledge of local flora and fauna, wildlife behaviour, ecology and conservation efforts. Maintain and inspect outdoor equipment and vehicles to ensure they are in excellent working condition. Provide clear safety instructions and guidelines to guests. Promote responsible and sustainable tourism practices and educate guests about the lodge’s conservation initiatives. Record guest participation in activities and maintain relevant observations. Report any safety concerns or incidents promptly to lodge management. Attend training sessions and workshops to enhance knowledge and skills. Collaborate effectively with other lodge staff, managers, chefs, housekeepers and reception to ensure a seamless guest experience. Qualifications Clear criminal record. Excellent employment track record – references will be verified. Excellent English fluency and literacy. Minimum two years’ work experience as a Field / Nature Guide. CATHSSETA & / FGASA NQF 2 or higher. NDT registration. Valid Code8 driver’s licence and valid PrDP. Excellent communication and people‑handling skills. Passion for observing, sharing and learning about nature. Ability to work independently with enthusiasm. Confident yet humble attitude. Flexible, cooperative and keen to work with the balance of the team in the interests of the lodges and guests. Organised with attention to detail and time. Developmental approach to staff and/or colleagues. Professional and neat personal appearance and image. Salary & Benefits Minimum Nature Site Guide (NQF2): R12000–R12500 per month. Higher qualification allowance: Diploma (R14000–R14500), Degree (R16000–R16500). Additional qualifications: Advanced Field Guide (NQF4) + R2500, specialist modules + R500 each, Birding / Trails + R1000 each. Guides are allocated their own guests; tip policy: per night and person (direct in hand). Provident fund: 10% of gross salary – 5% staff contribution and 5% employer contribution. Medical: partial company contribution of R250 to a medical aid of the staff member’s choice. Uniform provided. Annual bonus at the discretion of the company. Work/off cycle: 8 days off per month (can be taken together or split) + 15 annual leave days. Accommodation: most staff live in their own accommodation or nearby villages, with optional onsite accommodation at approximately R3000 per month.
