Discovery Health Systems Business Analyst - Health Benefit Solutions | Benefit Management System (BMS) About the role Within the Benefit Management System (BMS) area, the Business Analyst (Intermediate) interfaces between multiple business areas and teams that require deep integration of solutions. The role supports the project throughout the project lifecycle, manages releases and post‑release monitoring, and applies technical knowledge of development principles, data and change management. The Business Analyst may also coach and mentor junior BAs. Responsibilities Key responsibilities include: Expert understanding of the system development life cycle and the role of the BA at each stage. Distinguishing between business, functional and non‑functional requirements. Understanding differences between business requirements and business rules. Supporting delivery of requirements from a technical and business perspective. Applying project approaches such as Waterfall and Agile. Managing system and user acceptance testing and linking to requirements documentation. Managing project risks, issues, assumptions, and dependencies. Aligning business and IT strategy within the organization and more broadly. Running requirements gathering and JAD workshops to capture new requirements. Performing project estimation for BA tasks. Recommending appropriate requirements approaches. Producing accurate Customer Requirements documents with stakeholder approval. Presenting to senior stakeholders. Directing process improvement programs. Documenting functional requirements specifications clearly defining project objectives. Constructing complex processes, data and UML models. Integrating data to better understand clinical rules. Reading and interpreting Entity Relationship Diagrams, maintaining database data, and demonstrating solid working knowledge of SQL. Resolving requirements conflicts via stakeholder engagement. Providing support and guidance to junior and intermediate BAs. Identifying and documenting project risks, issues, assumptions, and dependencies. Performing QA of business analysis deliverables. Coordinating work and priorities of a team of junior BAs. Engaging senior stakeholders to determine business change initiatives. Performing strategic level analysis and understanding principles of business and enterprise architecture.
