Job Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated Assistant Factory Manager to support the Factory Manager in overseeing daily processing and operational performance within a seafood processing facility. This role is critical to ensuring safe, efficient, cost-effective production across squid, hake, pilchard, and line fish processing operations, including cold storage and ice plant activities. This is a hands-on leadership role suited to a results driven individual who thrives in a fast-paced production environment. The Assistant Factory Manager will lead and coordinate shift production activities, supervise factory teams, monitor productivity and yield, and ensure full compliance with food safety, quality, health & safety, and regulatory requirements. The position plays a key role in achieving production targets, optimizing labour and resource utilization, maintaining equipment performance, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. Key Responsibilities: Leading and controlling factory operations during assigned shifts. Executing daily production plans and meeting output, yield, and efficiency targets. Supervising raw material intake, processing, packing, and dispatch preparation. Managing labour allocation, overtime control, and workforce discipline. Ensuring accurate production, stock, and compliance documentation. Enforcing HACCP, NRCS, PPECB, DFFE, and internal food safety standards. Monitoring equipment performance, minimising downtime, and coordinating maintenance. Conducting shift handovers, reporting, and supporting audits. Coaching, guiding, and developing production staff to maintain high performance standards. Minimum Requirements: Degree or Diploma in Operations Management or a related field. HACCP certification (minimum Level 4); NRCS or industry specific certifications. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Valid Driver’s Licence and PDP. Minimum 5 years’ experience in a supervisory or management role within a factory or production environment. Preferably experience in fish processing or manufacturing. Proven experience in staff management, production scheduling, and cost control. Strong exposure to inventory management, stock control, and regulatory compliance. Demonstrated experience with HACCP systems and food safety standards. Disciplinary and performance management experience.
