Business Developer – Renewable Energy Location: South Africa Leap29 is partnering with a leading player in the energy transition, delivering sustainable solutions across South Africa and internationally. Our client specialises in renewable energy projects with a focus on commercial & industrial (C&I) solar, energy efficiency, and distributed generation. Role Overview The Business Developer will be responsible for identifying, approaching, and securing new clients within the C&I sector. The role involves proactive prospecting, cold calling, and managing the full sales cycle to deliver new contracts and long-term partnerships. Key Responsibilities Proactively generate new business opportunities in the C&I renewable energy market. Drive outbound sales activity: cold calling, prospecting, networking, and client meetings. Develop and execute a structured sales strategy to achieve growth targets. Build strong relationships with senior decision-makers and key stakeholders. Manage the complete sales process, from lead generation through to deal closure. Track industry trends, competitor activity, and regulatory developments. Key Requirements Proven track record in new business development (renewable energy, utilities, or related industries preferred). Strong experience in cold calling and closing new business (essential). Commercially astute with excellent negotiation and influencing skills. Entrepreneurial mindset with a proactive, results-driven approach. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Based in South Africa with willingness to travel.
