Mining Production Engineer job vacancy in Kathu. The Mining Production Engineer is responsible for overseeing production activities across two open-cast manganese mining operations in the Northern Cape. Reporting to senior mining leadership, the role focuses on ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective mining operations while maintaining compliance with Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) requirements and fulfilling 3.1 legal appointment responsibilities. Salary: R1 500 00 - R1 800 000 Annually. Duties and Responsibilities Production and Operational Management Oversee daily production operations across two open-cast manganese mining sites Ensure mining operations are executed safely, efficiently, and in line with production targets Drive operational performance improvements and continuous improvement initiatives Monitor and optimise production outputs, operational efficiencies, and mining activities Support production scheduling and operational planning processes Legal Compliance and Safety Management Fulfil and maintain 3.1 legal appointment responsibilities in accordance with the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) Ensure compliance with all mining legislation, operational procedures, and safety standards Promote and maintain a strong safety culture across mining operations Monitor adherence to risk management and operational safety procedures Contractor and Team Management Manage mining contractors and monitor contractor performance against operational objectives Lead and supervise production and operational teams across both mining operations Ensure effective workforce coordination and operational accountability Drive high-performance standards and operational discipline within teams Technical and Production Support Work closely with geology, engineering, and processing teams to optimise mining and production outcomes Monitor production data, operational metrics, and site performance indicators Prepare and manage operational reports and production performance updates Support operational troubleshooting and problem-solving activities Financial and Operational Planning Participate in budgeting, forecasting, and cost-control processes Monitor operational costs and identify opportunities for optimisation and efficiency improvements Support long-term operational sustainability and production growth initiatives Role Requirements Degree or Diploma in Mining Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Metallurgy, or a related mining discipline Relevant qualifications required for eligibility for a 3.1 legal appointment Minimum 5 - 10 years’ operational mining experience Proven experience within open-cast mining environments is essential Exposure to manganese mining operations will be highly advantageous Previous production or operational management experience within mining operations Experience managing mining contractors and operational production teams Strong understanding of MHSA regulations and mining compliance requirements Eligibility for a 3.1 legal appointment in terms of the Mine Health and Safety Act Strong production management and operational planning capabilities Good understanding of mining equipment and production processes Excellent leadership and people management skills Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities Strong reporting and operational analysis capabilities Valid driver’s licence Willingness to be based in the Northern Cape Medically fit to work on mine sites #J-18808-Ljbffr
