This is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing all financial operations, ensuring strong financial control, statutory compliance, accurate reporting, and strategic financial support across the reserve. Purpose of the Role To manage the organisation’s financial function, ensuring accurate reporting, effective financial control, compliance with statutory requirements, and sound financial governance to support operational and strategic decision-making. Key Responsibilities Financial Management & ReportingPrepare and manage budgets, forecasts, cash flow projections and management accounts Deliver accurate and timely monthly financial reports Review daily financial operations including bank, debtor, creditor and cash reconciliations Oversee payroll reconciliations where applicable Cash Flow & ControlsManage cash flow, banking processes, payment runs and working capital Monitor expenditure against approved budgets Enforce strong internal financial controls and policies Compliance & AuditEnsure compliance with tax, VAT, COIDA and statutory requirements Coordinate and manage annual audits with external auditors Maintain and enforce financial governance frameworks Support donor reporting and 18A certificate processes where applicable Strategic Financial SupportProvide financial insights and reporting to management, Board or Trustees Review departmental expenditure and advise operational leadership Support strategic decision-making through financial analysis Team LeadershipLead, manage and develop the finance team Ensure performance delivery and continuous improvement within the department Minimum Requirements BCom / BCompt or equivalent qualification (Accounting/Finance) Professional qualification advantageous (CA(SA), CIMA, ACCA, SAIPA, SAICA) 5+ years finance/accounting experience Minimum 2 years in a managerial/supervisory role Strong knowledge of SA tax and statutory compliance Experience in budgeting, cash flow and audit processes Advanced MS Excel and accounting system proficiency Core Competencies Strong financial and analytical ability Excellent attention to detail and deadline management Strong internal control and risk management understanding Clear communication with non-finance stakeholders Hands‑on, proactive and solution‑driven approach Strong leadership and organisational capability Desirable Experience NPO / Trust / Conservation or Reserve environment experience Exposure to BI reporting tools and systems integration Experience in Board/Trustee reporting Finance process improvement experience #J-18808-Ljbffr
