Negotiates national cycle and promotional deals with suppliers and ensures best costs to ensure competitiveness in market while ensuring category margins are achieved FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES Supplier Engagement Negotiate national cycle and promotional deals and ensure best costs to ensure competitiveness in market while ensuring category margins are achieved Manage supplier behaviour including service levels, competitiveness, stock availability and range Maintain and update supplier listings and ensure loaded by CSF team and ensure listings are compliant Measure regional and store performance via supplier review, and compare to DW Review DSOH and forecast category specific inflation Drive first to market on NPD Negotiate trading terms Negotiate and manage all marketing spends according to a promotional grid together with growth incentives Negotiate and implement JBP with selected suppliers Ensure suppliers are aligned to Jumbo objectives including, GMROI, stock holding and obsolete stock Manage support of all franchise, banner groups and private label initiatives Negotiate and facilitate all DC allowances Regional Buyer Engagement Provide direction in category management, ranging, margin mix and stock levels Communicate merchandise strategy and provide strategic direction to regional teams Communicate PI’s and suggest stock cover against PI’s a deal changes Communicate and ensure regional alignment with JBP Assist in all supplier related issues Communicate and manage all group or chain growth incentives Store Engagement Provide direction in category management, ranging, margin mix and stock levels Communicate PI’s and suggest stock cover against PI’s a deal changes Assist in all supplier related issues Selective trading with individual stores to achieve certain objectives Visit stores to ensure merchandise standards are according to plan Administration Ensure monthly procurement reports are completes on time To track competitor pricing on a weekly basis and action Measure overall category sales, margin and stockholding according to plan Update supplier JBP measures Ensure deal continuity Ensure AAS and growth targets are achieved and reconciliated within 60 days Review and action obsolete stock Employee Management and development Carrying out the performance appraisals of the buying team twice yearly. Ensuring the fulfilment of staff training requirements as per the individual development plans Management of staff turnover and retention within the department.
