JOB DETAILS Ensure the continued success of the Higher Certificate in 2D Animation through the delivery of high-quality online teaching across core disciplinary areas, and a strong commitment to student success. The lecturer will guide students in developing foundational artistic and technical skills required to produce 2D animated productions while fostering critical thinking, professional practice, and industry awareness. DESCRIPTION Learning and teaching Be responsible for the effective online delivery of the following courses within the Higher Certificate in 2D Animation: Y1.C1 Animation History and Context Y1.C2 Drawing for Animation Y1.C4 2D Animation Y1.C5 Professional Studies Facilitate learning across theoretical, practical, and professional modules, including animation history, drawing fundamentals, 2D animation principles, and professional industry preparation. Apply innovative teaching practices when delivering classes that are well planned, aligned to the curriculum, and inspire student learning. Deliver live online classes, demonstrations, critiques and feedback sessions using the institutional learning platforms. Prepare well-researched, current, and relevant learning support material, including portal resources, digital tutorials, and lecture materials. Motivate student attendance, online engagement, and maintain an accurate attendance register. Assessment Prepare, conduct and assess all assessment tasks according to the assessment policy of the institution. Provide constructive formative and summative assessment feedback that helps the students to improve. Complete the marking and moderation process promptly. Student support Provide guidance and support to students and address any concerns constructively and professionally. Lead, manage, and inspire the students in a way that helps them to achieve their full potential. Continuously look for improved ways to meet or exceed student expectations. Address any issues promptly with students and parents. Keep students informed of what is required. Identify, monitor, and provide additional support to at-risk students, including liaising with parents. Quality Assurance Evaluate modules and make constructive recommendations for improvement. Critically reflect on practice and actively contribute to improving learning, teaching, and assessment. Review feedback from a variety of sources and use it to improve the quality of education. Complete required administration processes and maintain accurate records. General filing, typing, and scanning as required to effectively carry out tasks and responsibilities. Ongoing learning Keep up to date with developments/ requirements within the education industry and/ or software and/ or the subject area. Professionalism and collaboration Communicate effectively and professionally. Represent the institution at industry events, seminars, and conferences. Develop collaborative links outside the institution with the animation industry, other academic institutions, and public organisations. Participate in required meetings. Adhere to established organisational code of conduct and policies and procedures. Be familiar with and adhere to company policy and rules. Lead and mentor junior staff members as required. SKILLS Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to mentor students. Good ability to manage time and work to deadlines. Proven organizational and planning ability.
