SAMEA invites experienced Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) professionals to volunteer as Mentors in the Emerging Evaluators (EE) Programme. The EE Programme is an award‑winning initiative, recognised at the Eval4Action – Youth in Evaluation Champion Awards, that strengthens the capacity of Young Emerging Evaluators (YEEs) by providing structured work placements, mentorship, and professional development opportunities. Through partnerships with leading organisations such as UNICEF SA, UN World Food Programme, CLEAR‑AA, and the FirstRand Foundation, the programme supports YEEs from diverse backgrounds to gain practical experience within South African host organisations across public, NGO, and private sectors. To strengthen the learning experience of these YEEs, SAMEA is seeking experienced M&E professionals to serve as volunteer mentors for the duration of a YEE placement (during their respective host organisations). ROLE OF MENTOR Mentors play a critical role in supporting the professional growth of YEEs placed within host organisations by: Providing career guidance and professional advice. Supporting the YEEs technical development in monitoring, evaluation, and learning. Offering reflective space and problem‑solving support related to workplace experience. Sharing insights on the evaluation profession and career pathways. Regularly meeting with the assigned YEE (e.g. monthly) via online meetings. Mentors are not responsible for supervising the daily work of their YEE, as this remains the role of the host organisation. Instead, mentors provide independent professional guidance and encouragement. WHO SHOULD APPLY? SAMEA welcomes mentors who: Have experience in Monitoring, Evaluation, Research, or related fields. Are passionate about capacity development and supporting emerging professionals. Can commit a few hours per month for mentoring engagements. Are willing to share knowledge and contribute to strengthening the monitoring and evaluation ecosystem in South Africa. WHY BECOME A MENTOR? By volunteering as a mentor, you will: Support an award‑winning programme shaping the future of M&E. Give back to the profession while helping emerging professionals thrive. Contribute to building the next generation of African evaluators. Expand your professional network within the M&E community. HOW TO EXPRESS INTEREST If you are interested in mentoring a Young Emerging Evaluator, please confirm your interest by completing the mentor interest form or contacting the SAMEA EE Programme Coordinator. Join SAMEA and its partners in strengthening the monitoring and evaluation profession by supporting Young Emerging Evaluators. #J-18808-Ljbffr
