THE ROLE We are hiring a Head of Strategic Operations to own the commercial pipeline end to end. The title carries an operational backbone, but the heart of the role is sales and commercial execution at a senior level. You will lead discovery, structure deals, close them, and shepherd customers through integration into live production. You will be the connective tissue between the market and the business. You will work directly with the CEO on commercial strategy, partnership development, and pipeline conversion, and you will have the latitude to design the commercial playbook the company scales on. This role suits someone who has already closed complex, multi‑stakeholder deals inside regulated financial services or fintech, who can translate technical and compliance‑heavy propositions into language that lands with founders, CTOs, treasury leads, and compliance heads, and who is energised by getting deals over the line rather than admiring them in the pipeline. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Pipeline and deal execution Own the commercial pipeline from discovery through to signed agreement and production go‑live Drive outbound and inbound sales activity across Spendl's target customer segments including fintechs, payment companies, payroll providers, asset managers, and merchant networks Lead commercial and technical discovery conversations with prospective customers, understanding their use case and mapping it to Spendl's infrastructure Track and report on pipeline health, conversion rates, and revenue progress Commercial structuring Structure and negotiate commercial agreements across Spendl's revenue models: platform fees, transaction fees, spread and off‑ramp fees, processing fees, and yield share arrangements Bring discipline and creativity to pricing, packaging, and deal shape across diverse customer types Partner and ecosystem development Manage and develop the partner and referral ecosystem, including regulator, banking, and fintech network relationships Build long‑term partnerships that compound into pipeline over time Integration and feedback loop Collaborate with the CEO and technical team to manage the integration and onboarding pipeline from pilot to production Feed market intelligence back into product and commercial strategy Work with the team to automate and scale the pipeline workflow using AI and cowork‑based tooling WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR You will likely have: 5 or more years in a senior B2B commercial, business development, or strategic sales role A track record of selling into regulated financial services, fintech, payments, or adjacent industries Proven ability to manage complex, multi‑stakeholder sales cycles with long deal timelines Strong commercial acumen, with experience structuring and negotiating deals across multiple revenue models A track record of actually closing, not just managing pipeline We will pay particular attention to candidates with: An existing network across African fintech, payments, or digital asset ecosystems Exposure to AML/CFT and financial regulatory environments Experience building a commercial function (people, process, tooling) rather than only operating inside one Beyond credentials, the right person will be: Comfortable operating at both a strategic and executional level, building the playbook and making the calls A natural translator of technical and compliance‑heavy propositions into clear, compelling value for the buyer A strong written and verbal communicator across founder, executive, and technical audiences Energised by adopting AI tools to sharpen pipeline management and commercial output WHAT YOU WILL GET A senior commercial seat at one of Africa's most interesting digital asset infrastructure businesses, with real ownership of the company's growth trajectory Direct partnership with the CEO at a pivotal stage of the business, with the autonomy to design the commercial function as you scale it Meaningful equity participation in a business with a clear path to category leadership in African digital asset infrastructure A genuinely differentiated product to sell: compliance‑led infrastructure for serious B2B buyers in a market still dominated by retail speculation A dedicated learning and conference budget to support certifications and ongoing development across commercial, fintech, and digital assets Hybrid working out of our Cape Town office, with flexibility on how your week is structured (and remote considered for the right candidate) A fast‑moving culture where commercial decisions translate directly into product, partnerships, and revenue #J-18808-Ljbffr
