Our cutting-edge, early-stage client—building the AI infrastructure layer for modern e-commerce—is searching for a Commercial Discovery Lead to join the data team in Cape Town (hybrid). This person needs to be a smart, curious, and commercially minded generalist to help figure out who their best customers are and how to win them. This is an exciting role where you’ll work directly with the founding team, speak to customers, and help formulate their early commercial strategy. This is not a traditional sales role. The business is iterating toward product-market fit, so a big part of this role is learning from customers and identifying patterns . This is a high-impact, early-stage role where you’ll help shape the direction of the company. We’re less focused on titles and more focused on curiosity, intelligence, and commercial instinct . Responsibilities Work through existing inbound and warm leads Run discovery calls with potential customers Identify patterns across customer conversations Help define and iterate on ideal customer segments Help progress and close early customers Refine the product positioning and messaging Eventually run targeted outbound once the best segments have been identified Land the business’ first customers Build the early go-to-market motion Background 3–6 years experience preferred Strong academic background helpful but not required Previous experience in startups (Sales, BizOps, Founder’s Associate, GTM, Growth), consulting, e-commerce or B2B environments is helpful; or a customer-facing product or growth roles would be a good match Smart and curious about customers Personable and comfortable in customer conversations A structured thinker who can identify patterns Commercially minded and comfortable helping close deals Comfortable with ambiguity and early-stage environments Hands-on and willing to do whatever is needed Generous equity in the business An opportunity to join an early-stage start-up Great remuneration package An opportunity work directly with the founding team High ownership and responsibility from day one Fast learning and steep growth curve Opportunity to become a senior leader as the business scales — This position is open to people already eligible for work in South Africa — #J-18808-Ljbffr
