Introduction The Electrical Engineer will support the Projects and Technical departments by delivering high-quality solar system designs, assisting with project scoping, and ensuring optimal system performance through monitoring and fault finding. The role requires strong technical expertise, practical problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate across departments to ensure successful project execution. Duties & Responsibilities Key Responsibilities: 1. Project Scoping & Planning Conduct site assessments and feasibility studies Define system requirements based on client needs and site conditions Assist in preparing project proposals and technical specifications Collaborate with sales and project teams to ensure accurate project scoping 2. System Design & Engineering Design solar PV systems (residential, commercial, and industrial) Perform load analysis, system sizing, and component selection Produce detailed electrical drawings and schematics using AutoCAD Ensure designs comply with industry standards and regulations 3. Technical Support & Project Execution Provide technical guidance to installation teams Support project managers during project implementation Review installations to ensure alignment with design specifications Assist with commissioning of systems 4. Monitoring & Performance Optimization Monitor system performance using relevant platforms Analyse performance data and recommend improvements Ensure systems operate at optimal efficiency 5. Fault Finding & Maintenance Support Diagnose and resolve electrical and system faults Conduct root cause analysis for system failures Support maintenance teams in troubleshooting and repairs Recommend corrective and preventative measures 6. Documentation & Reporting Maintain accurate project and technical documentation Prepare reports on system performance, faults, and improvements Ensure proper record-keeping for compliance and audits Competencies & Skills Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Attention to detail and accuracy Good communication and teamwork abilities Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines Strong technical and practical electrical knowledge Desired Experience & Qualification Minimum Requirements Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering Experience in electrical design / engineering Knowledge of electrical codes & safety standards Minimum 5 years’ experience in the solar (PV)/renewable energy industry Proficient in PV Assist, Helioscope, CDL and electrical drafting Strong knowledge of solar PV system design (grid-tied, hybrid, off-grid) Experience in system monitoring and fault diagnosis Wireman’s License (advantageous) Project management and LV /MV /HV experience Valid driver’s license Knowledge of relevant electrical standards and regulations (SANS, NRS) CAD proficiency PLC knowledge Strong problem-solving and communication skills Interested? #J-18808-Ljbffr
