Purpose of the Role The Clinical Supervisor will oversee and coordinate the clinical implementation of the AYP (Adolescent and Young People) Programme, ensuring quality delivery of HIV prevention, sexual and reproductive health (SRH), and gender-based violence (GBV) services targeting adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) and adolescent boys and young men (ABYM) aged 15–24, both in and out of school. The Clinical Supervisor will provide direct supervision to a team of Professional Nurses, manage clinical performance, and liaise with the Department of Health and other stakeholders for effective service integration. Duties and Responsibilities Provide clinical leadership, supervision, and mentorship to Professional Nurses within the AYP programme. Receive and issue clinical directives, ensuring alignment with Department of Health (DOH) and programme protocols. Monitor service quality, adherence to clinical guidelines, and compliance with standard operating procedures. Lead planning and coordination of mobile outreach and facility-based service delivery activities. Ensure integration of PrEP, HTS, STI management, contraceptives, and psychosocial support within youth-friendly service packages. Conduct routine quality assurance and clinical audits, and implement continuous improvement plans. Represent the programme in relevant clinical forums, DOH meetings, and stakeholder engagements. Support data quality, reporting, and clinical input for programme monitoring and evaluation. Identify training needs and coordinate capacity-building initiatives for nursing staff. Collaborate with programme managers, M&E staff, and community teams to achieve programme goals. Skills Requirements / Competencies Proven leadership and team management abilities. Strong clinical and decision‑making skills. Excellent verbal and written communication. Knowledge of HIV prevention, SRH, and youth‑friendly services. Strong organisational, supervisory, and coordination skills. Computer literacy and report‑writing proficiency. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities. Willingness to travel as needed between facilities and outreach sites. Educational Qualifications and Experience Required Professional Nurse Qualification with current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC). Post‑basic diploma in Primary Health Care or Public Health is an advantage. Minimum 5 years clinical experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role. NIMART trained and competent in HIV prevention and SRH service delivery. Previous experience managing clinical teams, especially in adolescent and youth health programmes.
