Applications for the post of Facilities Officer are invited from dynamic, vibrant individuals with experience in student housing facilities management at an operational level. Experience at a tertiary educational institution or a similar-sized organisation is preferable. The individual must be interested in constant self-improvement and development. Applicants must be client service orientated and understand students’ needs, be passionate in providing and maintaining an environment which is supportive to students’ academic and co-curriculum development and wellbeing. Reporting To The Coordinator Responsibilities Perform thorough daily checks on all student residences regarding cleanliness, safety and maintenance, effectively and efficiently, according to all the relevant policies and procedures to ensure that they are available and suitable for occupancy. Identify, thoroughly investigate, resolve and/or immediately refer to the appropriate department or person all issues related to the cleanliness, safety and maintenance of all Student Residences and movable assets administered by the Student Housing section, according to all the relevant policies and procedures. Arrange for the safe storage of the belongings of all students living in student residences administered by the Student Housing section during all vacation periods, effectively and efficiently, according to all the relevant policies and procedures. Conduct daily review of the student residence security occurrence book to identify, thoroughly investigate, resolve and/or immediately refer to the appropriate department or person all recorded incidents, according to all the relevant policies and procedures. Minimum Requirements (Qualification and Experience) National Senior Certificate or equivalent At least 2 years’ relevant working experience Facilities and/or maintenance experience Skills and Training Knowledge of relevant legislation about Health & Safety, Transport, Cleaning, Environmental, etc. Familiarity with university policies, procedures, and protocols Knowledge of University emergency protocols and procedures Required Competencies Attention to detail Ability to work under pressure Communication skills Interpersonal skills Honesty and sound work ethic Digital Acumen Disclaimer By applying for the position, you consent to the University sharing your application, including curriculum vitae, with University stakeholders to process the application.
