You will fulfil all the necessary requirements with regards to the operational activities / requirements in the Moulding Shop. The Line Manager will be responsible for the Moulding shop departments’ production, process and people related activities by applying sound Production Management principles on an ongoing basis and by supporting the Factory Manager with related planning and control activities. KEY JOB FUNCTIONS: Implement and enforce safety policies and behaviors throughout the workforce thereby supporting the overall achievement of the stipulated health and safety standards. Ensure employees are following all safety rules, lead and guide safe-work activities and motivate staff to improve safety awareness and participation. Manage the production workforce including all first line supervisors (Group Leaders & Team Leaders) by providing continuous one-on-one coaching with direct reports to develop leadership and decision‑making skills. Ensure that resources are appropriately allocated as per the production plan together with the management of time and attendance of staff members. Ensure staff complies with all SOP’s, standards, guidelines and prompt reporting. Direct, guide, motivate and evaluate direct reports in order to achieve daily goals in production activities. Dedicated daily time spent on the production floor (up to 80%); fact finding, problem solving, monitoring and reporting of production related activities. Ensure that the manufacturing processes run reliably and efficiently in order to achieve set production targets. Ensure that a stable production‑delivery schedule is maintained by ensuring that line resource planning activities (BOM’s) are supplied as per JIT principles. Liaise with downstream suppliers (Stores, Moulding, Joinery, etc.) and upstream customer (Harbour) on an ongoing basis. Maintain Manufacturing Standards. Delegation of tasks and/or assignments to direct reports. Help drive operational discipline through housekeeping, 5S efforts and infrastructure improvement Implement appropriate corrective action as and when required. Maintain Line and Factory fittings. QUALITY ASSURANCE Maintain and adhere to set quality standards thereby supporting the Company culture of quality is key. Formulate, plan and implement continuous improvement activities and initiatives on an ongoing basis. REPORTING On an ongoing basis, provide Factory Management and/or Senior Management with realistic appraisals of the production operational capabilities, required enhancement changes, challenges and opportunities confronting the operation. Provide daily feedback reports in terms of the Production Activity Lists and distribute to applicable stakeholders. Accountable for department budgets / cost savings on an ongoing basis. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Minimum: National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Production Management, Engineering or related field Ideal: BTech/B-degree (NQF Level 7) in Production Management/Engineering or related field At least 3 yrs. leadership/supervisory experience. Boat building experience is advantageous. Able to show full commitment to achieve deadlines in a demanding environment. COMPETENCIES Good leadership, planning, organising, communication and control skills. Able to motivate staff to meet desired outcomes. Troubleshooting abilities.
