Position Overview The Lease Auditor will be responsible for auditing and reconciling financial and data considerations related to lease agreements, ensuring compliance with lease terms for investors (landlord’s perspective), residential (estate managers perspective) and occupiers (tenant’s perspective). The role requires a strong understanding of commercial and residential lease language, expense allocations, and financial analysis to support revenue assurance and savings for clients. This position will require collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, including landlords, legal teams, and third‑party auditors. This role will also assist in administering all levels of Lease Administration and special projects as needed by management. We operate a hybrid working model with 3 days of working from home per week. The role is based in the Johannesburg office. The successful candidate will be required to work UK hours, 08:00 to 17:30, Monday to Friday, and will be able to take leave on UK public holidays in place of recognised South African public holidays. Responsibilities Data Audit & Validation – Validate and reconcile lease data between internal records and clients’ lease management software, ensuring accuracy of lease clauses, options, rent tables, key dates, and other lease components. Identify discrepancies, document issues, and coordinate resolution. Financial Audit & Reconciliation – Audit and reconcile all financial lease considerations (service charges, insurance recharges, base rent, turnover rent, utilities, deposits, allowances). Conduct detailed analysis, maintain audit records and reports. Lease Compliance & Interpretation – Interpret commercial lease provisions, apply lease concepts such as proportionate shares, management and administrative fees, and caps, and ensure compliance with lease terms. Dispute Resolution & Communication – Engage landlords and property managers in professional discourse to request documentation, troubleshoot disputes, and resolve issues through lease language analysis. Reporting & Stakeholder Collaboration – Prepare and manage reports (lease master audit savings, cost mitigation) for client review and collaborate with third‑party auditors on projects. Requirements 3–5 years of experience in a leasing or audit environment, with strong knowledge of commercial lease agreements and audit procedures. Excellent understanding of lease expense allocations, service charges, and cost‑sharing provisions. Experience analysing lease documents and applying lease provisions to disputes. Strong negotiation and dispute resolution skills with landlords and property managers. Proficiency in financial analysis and reporting tools. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently, manage multiple audits, and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment. Intermediate to advanced MS Excel and MS Office skills (formulas, pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.). Preferred: experience in lease auditing, real estate finance, property management or lease administration; familiarity with UK and European property regulations; corporate client experience; qualified accountant.
