Drive Cost Optimisation, Supply Chain Excellence and Manufacturing Efficiency An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Value Engineering & Supply Lead to join a growing manufacturing and engineering organisation. This strategic role will be responsible for driving product cost reduction, value engineering initiatives, strategic procurement, inventory optimisation, and ERP-driven supply chain excellence. The successful candidate will play a critical role in improving profitability, strengthening supplier relationships, optimising working capital, and ensuring efficient production planning within a modern manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities Product Cost & Value Engineering Analyse product and component cost structures to identify key cost drivers and cost-saving opportunities. Lead value engineering initiatives involving design, material, process, and sourcing improvements. Collaborate with Engineering teams to reduce costs while maintaining quality, compliance, and product performance. Develop business cases for cost-reduction initiatives and monitor realised savings. Strategic Procurement & Supplier Management Identify high-impact procurement categories and components for focused cost optimisation. Lead supplier negotiations and establish long-term supply agreements. Improve supplier pricing, service levels, and total cost of ownership. Develop supplier performance metrics and implement supplier development and risk mitigation strategies, including dual sourcing. Inventory, Cash Flow & Supply Chain Optimisation Align procurement and inventory strategies with working capital and cash flow objectives. Implement Just-in-Time (JIT) and other inventory optimisation methodologies. Manage critical and long-lead items to minimise supply chain risks. Monitor and improve inventory KPIs including:Inventory turns Stock-outs Excess inventory Obsolete stock Order-Based Procurement Planning Develop systems and processes to convert Bills of Materials (BOMs) and production schedules into procurement plans. Ensure timely identification and ordering of long-lead and critical components. Work closely with Production and Engineering teams to maintain accurate BOMs and planning data. ERP/MRP Management & Data Integrity Own procurement and costing-related ERP/MRP configuration and data management. Maintain accurate:Supplier data Lead times Cost information Purchasing policies Bills of Materials (BOMs) Ensure ERP-driven costing, planning, and procurement processes accurately reflect operational realities. Act as the primary liaison with the ERP service provider regarding procurement and production planning functionality. Cross-Functional Leadership Partner with Engineering teams on design-to-cost and value-engineering initiatives. Collaborate with Finance on budgeting, standard costing, cost variances, and savings verification. Lead and develop procurement resources where applicable. Drive alignment between Engineering, Production, Finance, Procurement, and IT functions. Minimum Requirements Qualifications Bachelors Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial or related technical discipline). Experience 510 years experience within manufacturing, engineering, or industrial environments. Proven experience in:Value Engineering Strategic Procurement Supply Chain Management Production Planning Cost Engineering Strong ERP/MRP systems experience, including:Product costing Purchasing Inventory management Production planning Bills of Materials (BOMs) Key Competencies ✔ Strong analytical and numerical capability ✔ Advanced product costing and cost analysis expertise ✔ Deep understanding of manufacturing processes and supply chain operations ✔ Knowledge of inventory management methodologies including JIT, EOQ, Safety Stock and ABC Analysis ✔ Ability to contribute effectively to technical and engineering discussions ✔ Excellent supplier negotiation and relationship management skills ✔ Strong project management and organisational ability ✔ Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills ✔ Results-driven approach with a focus on operational excellence and continuous improvement Why Join Us?
