Our client, a respected organisation within the financial services environment, is seeking a skilled Accountant to join their finance team. This role is critical in maintaining the integrity of accounting records, ensuring compliance with internal controls, and delivering accurate and timely financial reporting.The successful candidate will take responsibility for key accounting functions, including reconciliations, financial reporting, tax compliance, and audit support. You will work closely with the Financial Controller and collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure that financial processes are executed efficiently and in line with best practices.This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a dynamic business where your technical expertise and analytical mindset will directly support sound financial decision-making and organisational performance.Key Responsibilities: Maintain and review accounting records to ensure the validity, accuracy, and completeness of financial transactions. Review procurement processes and supplier documentation to ensure adherence to company policies and levels of authority. Monitor supplier payment terms and ensure the timely processing of payments. Review and reconcile cashbooks, bank reconciliations, supplier accounts, and fixed asset registers. Prepare and review journal entries, including complex and non-routine transactions. Compile detailed balance sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules. Ensure the accuracy and completeness of inter-company transactions and balances. Prepare management accounts, budgets, forecasts, and supporting reports. Assist with revenue calculations and ensure the accuracy of system-generated figures. Support cash flow management and financial soundness calculations. Prepare VAT reconciliations, tax computations, and ensure compliance with tax regulations. Assist with audit processes, including preparation of annual financial statements. Participate in strategic initiatives, reporting improvements, and special projects. Job Experience and Skills Required: Degree in Accounting or equivalent (BCom/BCompt preferred). Completed articles or 35+ years relevant accounting experience. Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting. Experience with reconciliations, management accounts, and audit processes. Proficiency in accounting systems (e.g., SAGE X3) and MS Excel. Solid understanding of tax (VAT and corporate tax) and regulatory compliance. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills. Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
