Position: SHEQ Officer Area: Welkom Branch Department: SHEQ Reporting: 16.2 and Branch Manager Role Summary The SHEQ Officer will be responsible for implementing, maintaining, and improving the company’s SHEQ Management Systems across all operational areas. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety legislation, Mine Health and Safety requirements, client-specific SHEQ standards, and company procedures. The role includes managing safety files, conducting inspections and audits, facilitating inductions and training, investigating incidents, monitoring environmental compliance, coordinating emergency preparedness activities, and ensuring continuous SHEQ compliance at all sites, shafts, workshops, and branches within the responsible area. Key Responsibilities Ensure compliance with SHEQ legislation, client requirements, and company standards. Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments. Compile, maintain, and manage branch and client safety files. Coordinate toolbox talks, emergency drills, and safety training. Investigate incidents, accidents, unsafe acts, and near misses. Ensure PPE compliance and monitoring. Maintain environmental compliance in line with legal and client requirements. Submit SHEQ reports, trackers, and compliance documentation timeously. Support and promote a strong safety culture across all operations. Minimum Requirements Matric Certificate. SAMTRAC / Equivalent SHEQ Qualification (Compulsory). HIRA Certificate / Risk Management. Legal Liability Training (OHSA & MHSA). Incident Investigation Certificate and experience. ComplyWorks / Passport 360 / HSEC Training. Minimum 3–5 years’ experience as a SHEQ Officer. Valid Driver’s License (Compulsory). Strong computer literacy and administrative skills. Required Skills & Attributes Strong communication and leadership skills.
