Responsibilities Conduct detailed quantity take-offs and cost estimations for projects, considering materials, labour, and equipment requirements. Prepare accurate bill of quantities (BOQ) and cost estimates for tender submissions and project budgets. Analyse drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive cost estimates. Monitor project costs throughout the lifecycle, identifying potential cost overruns or savings opportunities. Review and negotiate subcontractor and supplier quotations to ensure competitiveness and value for money. Track variations and change orders, assessing their impact on project budgets and timelines. Assist in the preparation and evaluation of tender documents, contracts, and procurement strategies. Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to ensure compliance with contractual requirements. Provide contractual advice and support to project teams, resolving disputes and claims as necessary. Identify and assess potential risks and opportunities associated with projects, proposing mitigation strategies where necessary. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory requirements affecting project costs and delivery. Prepare accurate and timely reports on project costs, variations, and financial performance. Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including contracts, correspondence, and change orders. Support internal and external audits by providing relevant documentation and information as required. Qualifications and Experience Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field. Minimum of 8 years of experience in quantity surveying and cost estimation, with a focus on infrastructure projects. Professional registration with a recognized industry body (e.g., RICS, SACQSP) preferred. Proven track record of successfully managing multiple projects simultaneously, from tender stage through to final account. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex technical drawings and specifications. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
