About the Role We are seeking an Electrical Engineer with strong experience in machine design and industrial automation to develop and integrate electrical and control systems for custom-built equipment. The successful candidate will be responsible for electrical system design, control architecture, and supporting the build and commissioning process.Key Responsibilities Design electrical systems for custom machines from concept to implementation Develop electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts Specify and integrate components such as motors, drives (VSDs/servos), sensors, PLCs, and HMIs Develop and support PLC and control system architectures (programming advantageous) Collaborate closely with mechanical engineers for full system integration Support prototype development, testing, and commissioning of machines Prepare electrical documentation, bills of materials, and manufacturing packs Ensure compliance with relevant standards and safety requirements Assist with fault finding, troubleshooting, and optimisation of systems Qualifications, Skills, and Experience Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering (BEng/BSc) Minimum of 47 years experience in machine design, automation, or equipment development Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems and control principles Experience with PLCs, HMIs, and industrial communication networks Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical, or similar) Knowledge of motors, drives, and motion control systems Exposure to control panel design and wiring standards Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail Ability to manage projects from concept through to implementation Advantageous PLC programming experience (Siemens, Allen Bradley, or similar) Experience with robotics or advanced automation systems Knowledge of safety systems and machine directives/standards Experience with commissioning and on-site support Why Join Us Design and develop innovative custom machinery Work on diverse and technically challenging engineering projects Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in a dynamic environment Opportunity to see your designs move from concept to operational reality
