TenacIT is seeking an experienced Senior Network & VoIP Operations Engineer to join our Gqeberha-based engineering team. This is a senior technical role suited to an engineer with strong experience across network operations, VoIP infrastructure, troubleshooting, security, and escalated incident management within a fast-paced service provider or managed services environment. You will play a key role in maintaining, supporting, and evolving critical network and voice infrastructure across multiple client and internal environments. The role offers exposure to complex routing, VoIP systems, VPN technologies, enterprise client infrastructure, automation initiatives, and large-scale technical project work . This position is ideal for someone who enjoys deep technical troubleshooting, takes ownership of operational outcomes, and wants meaningful involvement in both day-to-day engineering and long-term infrastructure improvement. Key Responsibilities Network Operations Provide senior-level network support across multiple environments Troubleshoot and resolve escalated network incidents and complex connectivity issues Monitor, maintain, and optimise network performance, reliability, and availability Support enterprise client network environments across multiple technologies and deployments Assist with infrastructure optimisation, resilience planning, and operational improvement VoIP & Telephony Infrastructure Monitor and maintain VoIP platforms across physical and virtual environments Investigate call quality issues, latency, jitter, packet loss, and performance-related incidents Troubleshoot SIP, voice routing, and telephony-related faults Support provisioning, maintenance, and ongoing optimisation of VoIP systems Contribute to VoIP-related R&D, platform enhancements, and performance improvements Security & Connectivity Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot firewall and perimeter security solutions Support VPN technologies, including secure client connectivity and site-to-site environments Assist with security hardening, network protection, and secure infrastructure design Maintain secure and stable connectivity across internal and client environments Incident Management & Escalations Manage escalated incidents through to resolution Perform root cause analysis on recurring technical issues and service-impacting events Lead investigations into network and voice-related incidents and trends Support SLA-driven operational delivery with a strong focus on quality and client outcomes Projects, Automation & Leadership Act as a senior technical resource on infrastructure and implementation projects Contribute to automation, tooling, and operational efficiency initiatives Support continuous improvement across network and VoIP environments Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance where required Collaborate with cross-functional teams on infrastructure upgrades and strategic initiatives Technical Experience Required Strong hands-on experience in: Network Operations & Troubleshooting Routing & Switching VoIP Systems & Telephony Troubleshooting SIP & Call Quality Investigation VPN Technologies Firewall Administration & Network Security Incident Management & Escalation Handling Enterprise Networking Environments Infrastructure Monitoring & Performance Analysis Troubleshooting across complex multi-site or multi-client environments Advantageous Experience Experience with any of the following would be highly beneficial: Cisco technologies MikroTik environments WireGuard VPN Linux server administration Docker environmentsNetwork automation or scripting ISP, MSP, MSSP, or carrier/service provider environments VoIP platform optimisation and performance tuning Requirements / Qualifications Relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Networking, Telecommunications, or similar preferred Relevant networking or vendor certifications are advantageous (Cisco, MikroTik, VoIP, Security) Experience 5+ years in a network engineering, VoIP engineering, or infrastructure operations role Strong experience in network troubleshooting and operational support Experience managing escalated incidents and complex technical investigations Experience supporting enterprise or service provider environments preferred Exposure to project implementation and infrastructure improvement initiatives About You Have a strong troubleshooting and analytical mindset Enjoy solving complex network and voice-related technical problems Work confidently under pressure in a high-availability environment Take ownership of incidents from investigation through to resolution Communicate effectively with both technical teams and clients Are proactive, detail-oriented, and solutions-driven Enjoy mentoring junior engineers and sharing technical knowledge Have a passion for infrastructure optimisation, automation, and continuous improvement What We Offer Exposure to complex enterprise-scale network and VoIP environments Opportunity to work on mission-critical infrastructure across diverse environments Technical ownership within a highly skilled engineering team Involvement in project delivery, automation, and infrastructure improvement initiatives Opportunities to grow into broader technical leadership and project ownership Competitive market-related remuneration aligned to experience, technical capability, and overall fit for the role Benefits Old Mutual Umbrella Fund Momentum Medical Insurance Bring Your Own Device allowance / support Home internet line benefit About TenacIT TenacIT is an MSP, MSSP, and Enterprise ISP delivering tailored ICT solutions across networking, security, cloud, software development, and voice.
