Overall Responsibility To lead and manage the Packaging Department (People, Plant, Process and Systems) in order to achieve the required standard of product quality and output in the most efficient and effective manner with no compromise to Safety & Quality Focus Area 1 Maintain safe healthy and risk-free working environment Comply with Safety, health & environmental legislation & procedures Maintain safe work environment Comply with SHP safe work practices as per SHE handbook in Manufacturing excellence strategy Report all safety observations Focus Area 2 Translate and implement Manufacturing excellence strategy Fully understand the Manufacturing excellence strategy Develop and manage a ME roll out plan for Packaging Coach staff and call upon Pillar champions and experts to drive each Pillar of ME into Packaging Conduct Pillar self-assessments of the ME program and close gaps Focus Area 3 Lead and manage Packaging team Support and entrench the company culture that emphasizes quality, continuous improvement, key employee retention and development, and high performance. Inspire and motivate the broader SHP team (not just your direct reports) to deliver on goals and maximize individual and the overall company performance Provide oversight, coaching and direction to your team Recruit, develop and performance manage direct reports Manage and apply personnel processes Communicate effectively in the workplace and to Shift teams Develop flexible multi-skilled staff Lead Operator autonomous maintenance program Lead the TNA and develop the training plan in order to develop staff Focus Area 4 Ensure conformance to SHP Specifications and standards Manage internal & trade quality specific to Packaging Optimise process capability Lead Packaging related projects Support maintenance integrity & Maintenance planning system Work hand in hand with the Quality manager to ensure exceptional hygiene and food safety standards are strictly adhered to High focus on quality management and record keeping of all Packaging related aspects Work with Planning and purchasing with regards to raw materials management Embed Why-Why problem-solving process Implement and coach quality at source in Packaging Focus Area 5 Identify and minimise waste streams Control Packaging related fixed and variable costs Requirements Of The Role Degree or Diploma in Engineering Packaging diploma qualification advantageous An advanced understanding of all aspects of Packaging including CIP and sanitization At least 3 years experience in managing a section within the Packaging department or the Department as a whole Valid drivers license/own transport Preferred Skills/Competencies Strong organizational habits, a self-motivated work ethic, and good critical thinking/problem solving skills Must have the schedule availability to work long and/or odd hours as needed to complete tasks and maintain the brewing operations Strong communication skill spanning all levels within the organization Mechanical aptitude for equipment repairs and trouble shooting Must possess a valid driver’s license Basic understanding of Manufacturing excellence Flexible schedule to accommodate seasonal production demands NB: Specific duties/responsibilities will vary from time to time: the above list is intended to indicate the general nature of the post and is not exhaustive.
