HR Generalist (EE) Montague Gardens, Cape Town Salary: R30,000 - R38,000 Basic PM (Depending on experience) Benefits: Medical Aid & Pension Fund Employment Type: Permanent Purpose of the Role Partnering with the HR Manager, you will play a pivotal role in driving the people strategy and maintaining a productive, collaborative work environment. This full-function HR Generalist role has a strong focus on Industrial Relations within a unionised environment, alongside Recruitment, Onboarding, Talent Management, and HR Administration. Key Responsibilities Industrial Relations & Union Management: Provide IR advice to line managers; manage disciplinary processes fair and consistently; facilitate conflict resolution; manage relationships with shop stewards/union officials, and represent the company at the Bargaining Council/CCMA (Conciliations/Arbitrations). End-to-End Recruitment & Onboarding: Oversee the internal/external recruitment process in alignment with EE/BBBEE targets; manage shortlisting, vetting, and compliance; coordinate seamless onboarding and HRIS capture for new hires. Talent Management & Culture: Collaborate with management on Individual Development Plans (IDPs) and succession planning; map performance on grid; support the L&D Specialist with training interventions; drive employee engagement surveys and culture initiatives. HR Administration & Reporting: Maintain accurate employee files, update departmental organograms, compile monthly HR/IR reports, and ensure data integrity across HR platforms. HR Events & Wellness: Assist in coordinating Employee Wellness Days, Long Service Awards, year-end functions, and annual Medical Aid/Pension Fund roadshows. Requirements & Competencies Qualifications: Degree in HR Management and/or Industrial Labour Relations Experience: 48 years of experience as an HR Generalist (minimum 4 years of solid technical experience in a similar role). IR Expertise: Proven track record of managing union relationships and representing a company at the CCMA / Bargaining Council is essential. Legislation: Deep, practical knowledge of South African labour legislation and best practices. Corporate Exposure: Experience within a manufacturing company is highly beneficial. Attributes: High emotional intelligence, strong negotiation skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to engage confidently across all organizational levels.
