Job Overview We are hiring a Head of Marketing to take full ownership of our marketing function, evolving our message to the market, building a high‑performing demand engine, and creating a consistent pipeline of opportunities that convert into revenue. This high‑impact, senior role is based in Cape Town, working directly with the CEO, COO and Leadership team. You will own Cognia’s marketing machine end‑to‑end from positioning and brand through to service go‑to‑market plans and processes, lead generation, and pipeline contribution. This is a commercial leadership position, responsible for ensuring marketing materially contributes to business growth. You Will Re‑define how Cognia shows up in the market. Build a consistent, high‑quality pipeline of leads. Ensure marketing converts into real opportunities (qualified leads that convert into deals). Job Requirements 10 or more years of B2B marketing experience, ideally within professional services, legal or technology sectors. Experience in leading a small team. Proven pipeline and revenue contribution experience. Strong content and copy‑writing skills, with experience producing thought leadership for senior professional audiences. Commercial mindset with data‑driven approach to marketing. Skilled at managing multiple priorities across different time zones and stakeholder groups. Experience working in a fast‑paced, client‑facing or growth‑stage business environment. Advantageous Familiarity with legal sector dynamics. Experience marketing across both UK and US markets. Working knowledge of CRM and marketing automation tools. Marketing Strategy and Planning Own and evolve Cognia’s marketing strategy. Translate complex propositions into clear, compelling messaging, go‑to‑market plans and effective processes and lead generation. Lead the evolution of Cognia's brand voice, ensuring consistency across all channels and markets. Develop integrated lead generation campaigns that span thought leadership, events, digital and BD‑enabling content. Define the marketing calendar, set priorities, allocate resources, and track delivery against targets. Content and Thought Leadership Lead the production of high‑quality thought leadership. Oversee production of articles and insights that reflect expertise and support commercial goals. Build a consistent content engine for use across LinkedIn, email, website and community channels. Maintain strong editorial standards with rigorous quality control across accuracy, tone and brand consistency. BD Alignment and Lead Generation Design and execute go‑to‑market processes that generate qualified pipelines. Own marketing contribution to pipeline and revenue conversion and growth. Partner with BD to assist converting leads into deals. Events and Client Engagement Own the events programme end‑to‑end including client dinners, webinars, roundtables, industry sponsorships and community gatherings. Align campaigns with commercial outcomes, overseeing and leading the production of all event collateral and ensuring the Cognia brand is represented at the highest standard. Support leadership in preparing panel engagements and speaking events, and post‑event thought leadership and relationship‑building follow‑up. Team Leadership and Operations Build and lead a high‑performing marketing function. Demonstrate an aptitude and lean‑in to using AI judiciously, ensuring what should be automated or AI‑enabled is, and what requires human judgment is built in. Develop and optimise processes and reporting in the marketing function leveraging automation, AI and process optimisation. Manage relationships with external agencies, freelancers and suppliers. Other Manage award submissions and ranking projects. Support CEO strategy rollout, leadership internal transformation messaging and other internal communications activity throughout the year.
