Fleet / Logistics Controller (Warehouse) – Bellville. A well-established Manufacturing Engineering company is looking for a Fleet / Logistics Controller (Warehouse) to join their team on a full-time permanent basis in the Northern Suburbs, Cape Town. Position Requirements: Qualification: BCom In Supply Chain / Logistics 3-5+ years’ experience in a Fleet or Logistics Control Fleet / Logistics experience combined with warehouse Experience overseeing Staff English and Afrikaans Position Responsibilities: Warehousing – material handling & movements: Inventory Governance & Procurement Liaison: Oversee the inbound logistics of raw materials, ensuring proactive communication of delays to all stakeholders. Monitor and analyze raw material levels to identify and mitigate potential shortfalls before they impact production. Govern the effectiveness of storekeeping standards and inventory control protocols for all raw materials. Orchestrate and validate regular cycle counts and formal stock takes across all warehouse locations. Act as the primary liaison for Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), coordinating resolution between Procurement, Production, Quality, and the C.O.O. Ensure rigorous adherence to Material Acceptance Report (MAR) protocols, verifying that all incoming inspections are signed off and compliant. Facilitate clear, synchronized communication across teams regarding material receipts and internal stock movements. Audit and enforce strict compliance with the flat wire and strip steel policies. Maintain the integrity of the MRP system by reviewing and optimizing minimum/maximum stock level settings. Operational Management & Leadership: Define performance objectives and provide direct supervision to warehouse staff, ensuring all assignments are executed to standard. Provide high-level administrative guidance on operational workflows, methods, and technical requirements. Direct the execution of RM2 stock takes, ensuring accuracy in both scheduled and ad-hoc audits. Ensure the universal application of Generic Forms, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Work Instructions within the department. Provide strategic oversight for the management and flow of the RM1, FHG, WP3, WP4, FG1 warehouses. Champion asset protection and scrap reduction initiatives within these warehouses to minimize financial loss. Facilities, Safety & Compliance: Uphold and enforce world-class housekeeping standards (5S) across all warehouse environments. Guarantee the physical security and integrity of block contents at all times. Collaborate with the Head of Production to align raw material deliveries with real-time production requirements. Verify that all materials are stored according to the designated facility layout and specific storage methodologies. Monitor storage zones for unauthorized items, ensuring immediate reporting and escalation to the relevant Departmental Process Controllers. Authorize and oversee the removal of unauthorized materials from designated storage zones. Supervise the offloading process for FGH pallets and FW arriving from logistics. Manage forklift resource allocation to ensure efficient movement. Oversee the pallet inspection program and coordinate the return of reusable pallets to Mega Park. Receiving Raw Material: Establish and enforce protocols to ensure 100% of raw materials are accurately weighed and digitally captured upon receipt. Validate that all incoming inventory is categorized and processed under the correct SKU and stock codes to maintain ERP integrity. Oversee visual inspection workflows to ensure all materials meet the company’s defined quality benchmarks and aesthetic standards. Perform periodic, high-level dimensional audits on incoming materials to verify supplier compliance with technical specifications. Maintain a rigorous standard for documentation, ensuring all warehouse paperwork is legible, organized, and audit ready at all times. Conduct regular calibration spot-checks on weighing equipment using certified weights to guarantee the accuracy of recorded material mass. Transfers/Fleet Management – Forklifts, trucks & vehicles Compliance and Safety Management: Ensure adherence to safety regulations and compliance standards. Monitor and enforce compliance with vehicle policy & all TSIS Standards. Conduct regular safety training for staff using company vehicles with assistance from Training Coordinator. Ensure all vehicles meet legal and safety standards (e.g., roadworthiness). Daily inspection of all Fleet vehicles. Vehicle Maintenance and Management: Maintain fleet in optimal working conditions. Schedule and oversee regular maintenance for all vehicles. Keep detailed records of maintenance activities and repairs. Implement a preventive maintenance program to minimize downtime. Monitoring and Reporting: Utilize Car track tracking system to monitor vehicle usage daily. Analyze and report on vehicle usage, fuel consumption, and maintenance needs. Analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement. Cost Management: Responsible for optimizing and improving fleet operating costs. Monitor fuel efficiency with movements report from Syspro and implement strategies to reduce costs. Analyze maintenance costs and seek cost-effective solutions.Prepare and manage the fleet budget, ensuring cost control. Collaboration with Departments (Ensure effective communication and cooperation between departments.): Work closely with production, logistics, and maintenance departments to coordinate vehicle usage. Facilitate communication regarding vehicle availability and scheduling. Support department managers in addressing any vehicle-related issues. Continuous Improvement (Enhance fleet management processes.): Regularly review and update fleet management policies and procedures. Implement best practices for fleet efficiency and effectiveness. Foster a culture of continuous improvement among staff involved in fleet operations. Training and Development (Ensure staff are well-trained in vehicle operation and safety.): Develop and implement training programs for vehicle operators. Assess training needs and provide ongoing education on safety and compliance. Encourage feedback from staff to improve training programs. Emergency Response and Risk Management (Prepare for and manage incidents involving fleet vehicles): Develop emergency response plans for vehicle accidents or breakdowns. Conduct risk assessments to identify potential hazards related to fleet operations. Train staff on emergency procedures and risk mitigation strategies. Conducts evaluations of procurement staff for review and approval. Ensure proper training of staff and conduct performance reviews. Allocate correct and trained staff to designated production and supporting functions to ensure compliance to required staff as per WCS Monitoring and approval of leave and time-off applications.
