Customer Account Associate – Billing Services Salary: $16.65 per hour ($16.65 - $23.09). Responsibilities Completes daily meter reading and billing exceptions under supervision to ensure correct bills are sent to customers. Resolves exceptions for accounts where meter readings fall outside specific parameters. Initiates field investigations and evaluates results. Performs calculations and makes various adjustments, including those for leaks, according to policy. Prepares underground leak adjustment, homestead, and other billing‑related letters. Processes requests for various programs. Works with meter reading computer applications and assists with data adjustments to ensure accuracy. May be temporarily assigned to perform call‑center duties during peak periods, special projects, or as mandated by business needs. Performs other job‑related duties as required. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED required; associate’s degree in accounting, business, or related field preferred. Two years of full‑time paid experience in accounting with familiarity in account‑detail review, preparing and posting adjustments, and auditing functions; or two years in a billing environment with responsibility for account set‑up and correction of customer billing. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Intermediate skill level using Microsoft Word and Excel. Typing speed of 25 words per minute with 80% accuracy. Good organizational and time‑management skills. Additional Information Residency Credit: Applicants who have had their primary residence in the City of Cleveland for at least one year at the time of filing a Civil Service application may earn a ten‑point credit if a passing grade is attained. Legible copies of a signed and notarized Residency Affidavit are required. Veterans’ Preference: Veterans’ preference may be awarded in accordance with Civil Service Rules 4.40E, 4.40F, and 4.40G.
