Maintenance Mechanical Fitter required in Somerset West. A renowned Engineering company is looking for a Maintenance Mechanical Fitter to join their team on a full-time permanent basis in the Helderberg Area, Cape Town. Requirements and Key Skills: NQF Level 4 or 5 qualification with a recognized Mechanical Trade Test National Trade Certification at N3 level Minimum of three (3) years post-qualification experience in a mechanical maintenance environment Sound knowledge of mechanical systems including air-conditioning, boilers/geysers, hydraulics, pneumatics, and rotating equipment Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety regulations and statutory requirements Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals Competent in mechanical fitting, repairs, and overhauls Basic welding and fabrication skills Computer literacy SAP experiences advantageous Good communication and reporting skills Ability to plan and execute maintenance tasks efficiently Key Responsibilities: Take full responsibility for all mechanical-related systems within the facility Carry out repairs, servicing, and maintenance on: Hydraulic and pneumatic systems Generators and associated mechanical components Pumps, bearings, V-belts, pulleys, and couplings Vacuum systems and compressed air systems (compressors and dryers) Autoclaves, boilers, hot and cold-water systems HVAC systems, chillers, motors, and mechanical plant Lifting equipment and mechanical handling systems Perform inspection, fault localization, and root cause analysis on mechanical plant breakdowns Execute routine and preventative maintenance in line with OEM servicing schedules and maintenance plans Assist with preventative maintenance planning and continuous improvement of maintenance strategies Carry out new mechanical installations, modifications, and upgrades Perform testing, commissioning, and validation of mechanical-driven plant after repairs or installations Monitor and track plant performance, reliability, and condition, and report deviations or risks Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspections, and reports (manual or system-based) Supervise and monitor contractor work to ensure quality, safety, and compliance with standards Conduct quality control on contractor activities related to refrigeration, air-conditioning, vacuum, medical gas, autoclaves, boilers, and water systems Ensure all plant rooms are maintained in a safe, orderly, and compliant condition Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety regulations and company procedures Participate in standby duties and shift work as required Report on the condition, functionality, and risks associated with mechanical plant and equipment Support other departments as required Perform any other related ad hoc duties as required Applying for Position: Only open to South African citizens.
