Somerset West – a stable, well‑established company operating within the agricultural intellectual property industry is seeking a detail‑oriented and self‑motivated Bookkeeper / Accounting Clerk to join their team. The successful candidate will primarily work within the company, while also assisting with the financial administration of various related entities, including non‑trading companies and trusts. The role requires someone who is trustworthy, highly organised, able to work independently, and comfortable managing a variety of accounting and administrative responsibilities. Key Responsibilities Processing and maintaining accounting records across multiple related entities Weekly Sage Online processing, bank reconciliations and journal entries VAT reconciliations and submissions Debtors and creditors administration Preparation and processing of month‑end payments Allocation and reconciliation of bank transactions and supplier payments Internal and external invoicing Sending customer statements and following up on outstanding accounts Allocation and reconciliation of customer payments General account reconciliations Petty cash and credit card reconciliations Assistance with administration relating to trusts and non‑trading entities Assistance with payroll‑related submissions and reconciliations SARS eFiling administration, including: VAT201 submissions and supporting documents submissions. EMP201 monthly submissions EMP501 bi‑annual reconciliations IRP5 generation and administration as per SARS deadlines. Assisting with ad‑hoc financial and administrative tasks Annually working with the auditors to align Sage Online with signed‑off financial statements by posting adjusting journals Minimum Requirements Matric certificate Diploma or Certificate in Accounting / Bookkeeping 3–5 years’ experience in a bookkeeping or accounting role Strong practical experience working on Sage / Pastel Accounting Computer literacy with strong Microsoft Excel skills Process and system driven Experience with SARS eFiling Skills & Competencies Required Solid understanding of bookkeeping and accounting principles Strong reconciliation and numerical skills Good knowledge of VAT and SARS processes Good work ethic High level of accuracy and attention to detail Ability to multitask and manage multiple entities/accounts Good planning and organisational skills Professional communication and relationship‑building skills Ability to work independently and take initiative Reliable, trustworthy and discreet with confidential information Team player with a positive attitude Benefits Competitive salary commensurate with experience 21 days annual leave Working hours: Monday to Thursday: 08:00 – 16:00 / Friday: 08:00 – 13:00 #J-18808-Ljbffr
