We are looking to hire a dynamic, passionate, confident, proactive and meticulous Risk & Compliance Officer to join a goal‑oriented team. Qualifications (Required & Preferred) Required: Bachelor's degree or diploma in Law, Risk Management, Compliance, or Governance. Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in a compliance or governance support role within a corporate or regulated industry. Demonstrated ability to manage compliance documentation, governance system, and regulatory reporting. Computer literacy in Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and governance tracking tools. Preferred: Postgraduate diploma or certification in Compliance Management or Corporate Governance. Short courses in contract management, POPIA compliance, or King IV/V governance. Professional membership with Compliance Institute SA. Experience Needed Sound understanding of compliance frameworks, regulatory risk, and corporate governance requirements. Exposure to pharmaceutical, healthcare, or manufacturing industries. Experience maintaining registers, tracking documents, and preparing reports. Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and general document management. Working knowledge of Companies Act 71 of 2008 and board administration processes. Experience preparing board packs, resolutions, minutes, and statutory registers. Familiarity with corporate governance principles (King IV/V) and compliance documentation. Key Duties & Responsibilities Business Management Coordinate the implementation and tracking of compliance and legal risk management plans. Assist in developing and maintaining the compliance universe and regulatory obligation registers. Maintain and update policy and procedure repositories, ensuring current versions and approval records are in place. Support departmental reporting, including the collation of information for the Finance & Risk Committee and Social & Ethics Committee. Liaise with internal departments to ensure compliance training, declarations, and acknowledgements are completed and filed. Maintain confidential and accurate compliance and legal documentation on behalf of the department. Compliance & Compliance Risk Management Implement compliance monitoring plans and track findings, corrective actions, and deadlines. Maintain the Compliance Risk Register, ensuring accurate categorisation and risk‑rating of compliance exposures. Assist in compliance risk assessments to identify new or emerging risks. Coordinate and record outcomes of compliance reviews, audits, and inspections. Support compliance awareness and training initiatives, including POPIA, ethics, and anti‑bribery. Maintain registers for conflicts of interest, gifts and hospitality, and regulatory declarations. Maintain the compliance related procedures and manuals. Where possible non‑compliances exist, provide risk analysis and propose workable solutions to ensure compliance. Provide advice, awareness and training on matters pertaining to compliance, enabling management to make informed decisions and prevent compliance breaches. Recognise gaps in existing processes or arising from new regulations and ensure remedial action is put into place. Implement compliance, and monitoring of the Protection of Personal Information Act and GDPR (where applicable). Engage with the business regarding compliance and regulatory requirements when entering new business areas and the technology ecosystems involved. Implement and conduct compliance monitoring programme and activities. Governance & Reporting Support combined assurance activities through compliance and legal risk reporting. Prepare input for board and committee packs, ensuring documentation quality and completeness. Compile compliance dashboards, summaries, and progress trackers for management review. Ethics Work with human capital and analyse ethics best practices for the entire organisation. In conjunction with Human Capital effectiveness, provide ethics and compliance training to the executive team, senior management and other applicable teams in the business. Assist with developing a progressive training program for all incoming employees. Provide support where incidents are reported, including assistance in monitoring the actionable items reported. Quality Management Building own, team and site's GMP Knowledge and Compliance. Participate in building quality objectives and provide ongoing metrics that directly support the achievement of such objectives. Participate in building a sustainable Quality Culture on site and proactively mitigate risks that may negatively impact quality or escalating them appropriately. Establish and maintain a state of control related to quality management within the department. Ensuring that the department is audit ready through closing out audit findings timeously. Ensure Deviations, Change Controls, CAPAs are handled effectively. Advocate continuous improvement within own department as well as cross‑functionally.
