The NEF, in partnership with mLab, is excited to share an opportunity for unemployed youth to participate in the STEP UP Digital Skills Programme. This initiative aims to equip young people with in-demand digital skills and support their transition into meaningful work opportunities within the digital economy. Empower youth with industry-relevant digital skills for employment, freelancing, and entrepreneurship. Strong focus on inclusive participation, especially women. Support SMEs and start-ups by providing access to trained digital talent. Includes specialised enterprise development support and services. Target KPIs Training & Skills Development Train 200 youth in Cloud Computing. Train 130 youth in Digital Talent streams. Achieve 60% female participation and 90% completion rate. Ensure 80 participants become certified in cloud and digital tools. Support 30 youth to operate as entrepreneurs or freelancers. Achieve 60 job or work placements within 3 months post-training. Maintain a ≥60% response rate on 6-month post-training tracking. To qualify, applicants must meet the following: Age & Nationality: 18–35 years old, South African citizens only . Educational Requirements: Completed Matric (NQF 4). Preferably holds a Diploma/Degree (NQF 5–7) in ICT, Business, or related fields. Gender & Inclusion: Priority given to female applicants (≥60%) and candidates with disabilities or from underrepresented backgrounds. Device & Connectivity: Must have consistent access to a laptop and reliable internet connectivity . Availability & Location: Must be available for the full 6-month programme (training placement) . Preferably resides near an mLab node for hybrid/in-person sessions. Motivation: Strong motivational statement showing alignment with programme goals, personal drive, and resilience. Bootcamp Performance: Engagement, teamwork, attendance, and performance during the pre-selection bootcamp will be assessed.
