About the Role You will lead a South Africa–based editorial operations team responsible for delivering core UK analytical content and strategic initiatives at scale and pace. This delivery‑focused managerial role is accountable for operational performance, efficiency, and quality across live, deadline‑driven editorial workflows. You will work closely with UK and global stakeholders to meet defined commercial and delivery objectives. Responsibilities Lead and develop a South Africa–based editorial team delivering high‑quality analytical content for Legal and Tax Markets portfolios and exam materials for Tolley Learning Academy, in line with agreed quality standards and delivery commitments. Own end‑to‑end operational delivery, including production scheduling, workload and capacity planning, and execution against defined timelines, service levels, and business commitments. Set clear performance expectations and manage delivery metrics, tracking productivity, throughput, quality, and risk via dashboards, and taking timely corrective action where standards or delivery are at risk. Make informed trade‑offs across quality, timeliness, capacity, and risk to ensure predictable, reliable delivery in a dynamic and demand‑driven environment. Drive continuous optimisation of digital and print editorial workflows, with a strong focus on simplification, scalability, repeatability, and sustainable ways of working. Guide the effective and responsible use of technology, automation, and generative AI to improve efficiency and reliability, applying appropriate judgement, sequencing, and governance guardrails. Build a flexible, cross‑trained, and resilient team, capable of responding to changing priorities and production peaks, supported by regular coaching, performance management, and fair, timely handling of underperformance. Operate as a collaborative enterprise partner, fostering a globally integrated team culture, working closely with the UK‑based Analytical Editorial Operations Manager, and partnering with commercial, HR, recruitment, global operations, and technology stakeholders to deliver aligned outcomes. Requirements Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree preferred. Minimum of 5 years’ people‑management experience preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel and PowerPoint); familiarity with project‑management approaches (agile or waterfall); XML knowledge desirable. Based in South Africa, with experience in publishing, content, or editorial operations highly desirable. Strong communication and collaborative leadership skills, with the ability to work constructively across global, cross‑functional teams while balancing team advocacy and organisational alignment. Sound operational and organisational judgement, including effective prioritisation, deadline management, planning, and proactive stakeholder communication. Business, commercial, and analytical acumen, with confidence using data, metrics, and performance reporting to support decision‑making.
