Job Summary To manage the implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of all Applications systems to enable the use of appropriate platform technology, as an integral and reliable component of business process within the country. Drive convergence of technologies, ensure delivery of technology projects associated with Applications, and liaise and negotiate with internal customers and technology vendors. Accountability: Time split 40% Installs, upgrades, configures and troubleshoots desktop operating systems as required by dependent services. Installs, upgrades, configures and troubleshoots desktop applications such as Microsoft Office and other specialist banking applications as required by dependent services. Installs, upgrades, configures, backs up and troubleshoots application servers, file and print, Teller, and other such servers. Installs, upgrades, configures and troubleshoots desktop resources such as phones, printers, scanners, Card and PIN systems as required by dependent services. Monitors resource utilization and performance of servers and resources and plans/exercises preventive or corrective actions to maintain high efficiency levels. Ensures that all PCs are protected with up‑to‑date antivirus definitions and the latest releases of patches. Regularly monitors the incidence, trends, status and speed of resolution of enquiries and problems, and proactively devises improvements and recommends changes to systems, products or services. Ensures all ATMs are operating effectively, thereby providing the highest level of ATM availability and performance. Ensures change management procedures are adhered to when performing any changes on production/live systems. Provides high level of functional expertise to resolve major complex live business problems relating to end‑user hardware and software. Provides second‑line support for end‑user hardware, software, and ATMs; reviewing and providing advice on parameter settings. Ensures information security guidelines are implemented and adhered to as prescribed by group information security. Conducts UAT and OAT activities related to country projects. Supports various projects at different stages. Supports the business in converting their requirements to IT applications. Manages migration‑related activities. Supervises maintenance of end‑user hardware. Ensures that proper testing occurs for all end‑user and ATM‑related changes released into production environments as assigned by Line Management. Provides technical support for software installation and configuration issues and provides resolutions. Provides diagnostic analysis to determine next steps for all user levels in order to identify the cause and resolution of issues encountered in the use of hardware and software. Accountability: Test Management Time split 20% Reviews releases and assigns appropriate release testing tasks. Compiles and reviews the Testing Deliverables. Conducts installation procedure tests. Participates in functional, performance, and integration testing results. Coordinates user acceptance testing. Coordinates back‑out testing. Conducts supporting documentation review. Compiles test results. Conducts release test review. Coordinates post‑release testing. Validates and communicates results of testing activities. Ensures all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, the Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework, and internal Absa Policies and Policy Standards. Understands and manages risks and risk events (incidents) relevant to the role. Accountability: Risk Management Time split 20% Builds relationship with the country IT Risk and Governance team and provides support wherever required. Contributes and delivers improvements to the risk profile by providing improved governance, risk management, controls and compliance requirements. Accountability: People Management Time split 20% Drives own Performance Development, collates relevant documentation, and prepares for reviews. Uses a skills matrix to identify training and development requirements, formulates a personal plan to be agreed with the team leader, and guarantees that the plan is completed within agreed timescales. Undertakes all necessary training to perform the role to the required standards, including gaining accreditation where appropriate.
