Interwaste, a leader in waste management solutions across Southern Africa, is seeking a Semi-Skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team at the Cape Town branch . Role Overview The Semi-Skilled Mechanic will play a pivotal role by assisting the Logistics Team by repairing Ultra-Heavy Vehicles. Key Responsibilities Assist in diagnosing and repairing diesel engines, transmissions, and hydraulics. Conduct routine maintenance, including oil changes, brake repairs, and filter replacements. Assist in inspecting and troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues. Dismantle and reassemble engine components under supervision. Perform basic welding and fabrication when required. Maintain workshop cleanliness and ensure tools are in proper condition. Follow safety procedures and guidelines while working on machinery. Support senior mechanics in major repairs and overhauls. Communication and Feedback Ensure all your superiors are notified in a timely manner regarding aspects of your areas as deemed necessary by them. Deal with personnel matters such as reporting incidents, customer complaints, requesting new employees, extension of contracts and terminations to your manager. Ensure your manager is informed of all staff related matters that will affect the organisation in a dire manner immediately (e.g. IR). Adhoc Any other reasonable adhoc duty as required or requested by management. It should be noted that individuals may need to expand their roles / scope to cover the work load of other employees in times of high work loads or individuals whom may be absent from work. This is the sole discretion of management. Minimum Requirements Minimum of 2 years experience working as a Semi-Skilled Diesel Mechanic. Basic understanding of diesel engines and mechanical systems. Ability to use hand and power tools effectively. Willingness to learn and follow instructions from senior mechanics. Physically fit and able to work in demanding environments. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Valid driver’s license (preferred). Trade test (advantageous but not required).
