PURPOSE OF THE POSITION The Millwright will be responsible for the following including supporting the manufacturing requirements of the factory in Cape Town Design, specify, investigate, trouble shoot, procure tooling and equipment for manufacturing processes Participate on project teams. Contacts include all levels of Manufacturing Product Engineering, tool shops, production maintenance. Consistent with Standards and established procedures to meet customers’ requirements The individual is required to prepare quotations for the manager on manufacturing parts and repairs, and to tend to the after sales service requirements Maintaining all relevant documentation and reports for work undertaken, consistent with company policies and quality assurance procedures and for maintaining and conforms to all necessary ESH requirements Checking stock, unloading deliveries and checking equipment received To keep workshop, tools and surrounding areas neat and clean To assemble and maintain electrical control switchgear for water and sewerage facilities as per design drawings and consistent with standards, established procedures and relevant statutory regulations Demonstrated ability to identify, locate and repair faults in electrical control equipment in the workshop and on customer sites Ability to service electric motors, generators, submersible, end suction and multistage pumps Be prepared to participate, if required, in a rostered after-hours emergency call-out system This position is also responsible for maintaining records, consistent with procedures, for the filing of reports and for data entry This position is also required to supervise and train any temporary labour in XYLEM procedures and practices and to lend support to staff when required Receive and sign in repair and service work orders for products and ensure panels are correctly identified prior to assessment and quoting Precisely assess the equipment for repair according to workshop manuals, parts lists and best working and engineering practices Provide timely and accurate advice and support to staff on workshop and product related issues, both orally and in writing where required Maintain the shop in an environmentally safe and organized manner & ensure equipment & tools are maintained and used to standards required ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITI ESOn site work in and out of S Carry out Millwright jobs and emergency work on pumps and associated equipment in the workshop and on customer site Carry out pump installations on customer sites, both mechanical and electrica Dismantle and re-assemble small, medium and large pump Perform commissioning when require Prepare report Provide quotations to manager for cost of repair Inspect and test products prior to dispatch to customer Maintain written records for future reference and to comply with all Quality Assurance Procedure Provide timely and accurate advice and support to staff and customers on service, workshop and product related issues both orally and in writing where require Participate in branch meetings and provide input on workshop activitie Complete the task assignments provided by superio Actively participate in audits for QA and ESH systems and practice REQUIREME NTSCompleted Matric (Grade 12) plus Trade qualificati on.Minimum of 3-5 years experience as a Millwright Section 13 trades pers on.Strong working knowledge in fitting & electrical, manufacturi ng.Strong technical background with field application pump experien ce.Computer literate and proficient in the MS office suite of progra ms.Exposure to auto electrical control circuits will be benefici al.Valid driver’s license code 08 or high er.Valid passport and willingness to trav el.Must be based in Cape Town and familiar with the Cape Town regi KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILI TIES Customer orient ated.Sales experi ence.Excellent problem solving ability and time management sk ills.Must be an excellent communicator, with experience working in a team environ ment.Result orientated, whilst still being committed to fulfilling the requirements of Xylem’s QA and ESH prog ams. #J-18808-Ljbffr
