We are seeking a skilled and innovative Electrical Design Engineer to join our engineering team specializing in mining machinery and mobile equipment. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, development, testing, and continuous improvement of electrical systems for underground and surface mining equipment, ensuring compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and customer requirements. Prepare electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and technical documentation. Select and specify electrical components, including motors, drives, PLCs, sensors, and protection devices. Perform load calculations, fault analysis, and system validation. Collaborate with mechanical, software, and manufacturing teams on integrated machine designs. Support prototype builds, testing, commissioning, and field troubleshooting. Ensure compliance with relevant mining, safety, IEC, and SANS standards. Participate in design reviews and continuous improvement initiatives. Maintain engineering documentation and revision control. Minimum Requirements BEng, BSc, BTech, or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering. 37 years of electrical design experience, preferably within mining, heavy equipment, or industrial automation environments. Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar electrical design software. Experience with PLCs, industrial control systems, and automation. Strong understanding of power distribution, protection systems, and control circuits. Knowledge of mining equipment and harsh-environment electrical design principles.
