Redheads Engineering is assisting its client in the mining sector to find a suitable candidate for the QA/QC Inspector contract role. The contractor will provide professional Quality Assurance, Quality Control, inspection, and expediting services to support the manufacture and fabrication of engineering equipment. The focus of the role is to independently verify compliance with specifications, approved drawings, statutory requirements, and applicable construction codes, while ensuring quality deliverables and schedule adherence across suppliers and projects. Role Responsibilities Quality inspections and verification of fabricated and manufactured equipment Supplier inspections (local and international) Welding, fabrication, machining, heat treatment, coating, and NDE oversight Verification of compliance with applicable codes and standards Expediting and progress monitoring against project schedules Compilation and issue of accurate inspection and progress reports Liaison with project teams, suppliers, and clients on quality‑related matters Qualifications SAIW Level II Welding and Fabrication Inspector, or IWS / IWT NDE certifications in VT, PT, MT, RT and/or UT (advantageous) Experience Minimum 5+ years’ experience with construction and engineering equipment manufacturing Minimum 5+ years’ experience working on construction and/or industrial sites Proven QA/QC and fabrication experience across a broad range of engineering and furnace equipment Sound working knowledge of: Fabrication processes Welding processes Machining and heat treatment In‑depth knowledge of construction and manufacturing codes, including: AWS ASME EN ISO Ability to read, interpret, and verify engineering drawings Proven experience issuing and verifying welding documentation: WPSs PQRs WQRs Demonstrated working knowledge and application of: ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems ISO 3834 Welding Quality Requirements Competencies and Attributes Excellent communication skills at all levels, including client‑facing interactions Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Proven ability to operate under deadline‑driven project environments Capability to influence and motivate suppliers to meet quality and schedule requirements Strong analytical skills with the ability to make factual, objective decisions High level of attention to detail and accuracy Strong written skills, particularly for inspection and technical reporting Valid South African driver’s licence with own reliable transport Willingness and availability to travel extensively, both locally and internationally Physically fit to work in demanding site and fabrication environments Collaborative mindset and ability to integrate with multi‑disciplinary project teams Inspection and test reports Welding and fabrication verification documentation Expediting and progress reports Non‑conformance and corrective action inputs Monthly quality and expediting summaries (where required) #J-18808-Ljbffr
