The Infrastructure Operations organization is looking for an extraordinary individual with proven and tested leadership and management skills as a leader in our facilities operations organization in Cape Town, South Africa, as a Data Center Engineering Operations (DCEO) Cluster Manager. Key Responsibilities Hiring, managing, and developing the operations management team, comprising of facility managers, chief engineers, and engineering operations technicians. Attainment of organizational performance goals and objectives relating to safety, security, availability, scaling, and efficiency. Planning and executing the Infrastructure Operations component of new AWS data‑centre buildings, new colo build‑outs, AWS data‑centre expansions, and colo expansions. Operation and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and controls systems for AWS data‑centres to include preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and change management. Vendor management of leased owned and colocation data‑centre services providers to meet or exceed contracted performance SLA’s. Safety, security, and availability incident response, incident management, and incident resolution. Continuous improvement of operational processes, procedures, methods, and tools. Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field Experience hiring, developing, and managing high‑performing technical teams Experience in industrial or commercial engineering or project management in mission critical facilities including but not limited to: data centres, power generation, or oil/gas facilities 5+ years of relevant professional experience Preferred Qualifications GCC - 5 to 10 years experience managing high performance mission critical teams AWS is an equal opportunities employer, and we value your passion to discover, invent, simplify and build.
